What are the two? It is said to be perception and inference, which means that these are the two as stated. It is not the understanding of sound and meaning or other meanings. Perception and inference are perception and inference. Among them, because it relies on the senses, it is perception, which is the reason for explaining the meaning of the word. The reason for using the word is that things appear, meaning that things appear in their own characteristics. The measure that follows is inference. Here, because of measurement, the measure is perception. The measurement that follows it is the measure that follows, which is inference. What is following? It shows that it is related to things. These are perception and inference. What is meant by 'not deceiving' is 'without deception.' Therefore, the correct knowledge that does not deceive, because it is a common characteristic, shows that there are two kinds of clarity of knowledge. In this way, the common characteristic of correct knowledge is shown. Whatever is a valid means of cognition is included here in perception and inference, such as the well-known perception and inference. What is accepted by other schools is also a valid means of cognition, because it is a reason of nature, and being related only to valid cognition is included here. Therefore, there are only two valid means of cognition, because they are similar in being related to things. What arises directly from things is perception, just as it is related to things, and inference, which is not perception, also fully understands things through the characteristic of being related to things. In order to prove that the valid means of cognition itself is universally included here, it is said that there are only two kinds of things. Perception and non-perception, because they exist by mutually abandoning each other, there is no third aggregate. If there is a third, extremely hidden, third thing? That is also non-perception. If it is said that measuring with one's own characteristic is not two things? If that is the case, the valid means of cognition is also considered to be one, that is, not deceiving. In this way, perception is the measure of knowledge.

If not, it is included in perception. If it is a valid cognition that realizes hidden things, then it is included in inference. For perception, it cannot be realized by inference other than perception, or by conceptualization and erroneous consciousness that are not perception. Because conceptualization and error do not grasp their own characteristics. What is not perception also cannot be realized by perception other than inference, or by conceptualization and erroneous consciousness arising from non-signs. Therefore, it is pervasive that valid cognition itself includes these. This should be understood as follows: that which is to be measured is two, which shows that the cause is also two. These two are also determined separately as the distinctions of the result of consciousness that focuses on itself, that is, one produces only perception, and the other produces only inference. Thus, whatever is determined to produce each distinction of result, a set of causes that is two, then it is capable of producing two distinctions of result, which is to establish that valid cognition is two by the sign of nature. Or, whatever possesses a set of causes that are determined separately to produce each distinction of result, then its result itself is also two, which is to cast another sign of nature. In order to eliminate the difference of the former combination, and the non-establishment of the sign of the latter two, therefore it is said "from which of those" and so on. "Which" refers to which thing. "Following" is the appearance of consciousness. "Another" refers to non-perception. It cannot be realized by anything other than inference. Realizing the sign and the thing related to the sign based on the sign is realized through the general aspect, but not through the aspect of its own characteristics, because it is due to the power of following, and because it itself does not appear. It shows that the sign is understood by the power of connection, and others, starting from that, said "if it is only connection" and so on. Connection also is, as a dharma to be grasped, a dharma that wants to be known, for which seeing is the possession of the dharma, and is also the dharma of the subject.
