Therefore, it is said that 'non-existence' is a valid cognition. In this regard, some things that become the measure of their own object actually arise from things, such as direct perception, or through intermediaries, such as inference. The knowledge of non-existence is not inference, because the 'sign' as a basis cannot be established in non-existence, as explained in the 'Drop of Reasoning'. If so, then what will become the object of this, and upon that, how will this realization of non-existence, which becomes a valid cognition, arise? For the time being, it does not arise from non-existence, because non-existence, whether directly or indirectly, does not become the cause of anything. Why? Because it has no power. If so, then will it have power? If so, then it becomes the thing itself, because it is the nature of power. Saying 'and' at the end is for another order. Furthermore, since there is no decay, the result of non-existence is always constant. Constant things also do not act occasionally due to the power of acting simultaneously, because they do not depend on anything. How is it that it does not depend? Because dependence is the characteristic of obtaining distinction. If it changes, then? Change depends on things, but it does not depend on non-existence. Why? Because it is the characteristic of things. Abandoning the previous nature and being related to nature is the essence of things. If these exist in non-existence, then it becomes the thing itself, and not non-existence. Therefore, whatever becomes the object, and upon that, this realization that becomes a valid cognition does not arise from non-existence. Saying 'non-existence' also, this 'also' is an inclusion, and this fault will also occur, because saying 'it is not a thing' is a negation of things. If this is the case, then it implies that it arises from non-existence, the meaning of this statement is that it arises from the negation of things, that is, it does not arise from things. The inclusion of negation, whether related to the same basis or a different basis, reverses the later meaning of the word from that of the previous one, for example, a Brahmin.
