So it is said. Faulty criticism that is not valid is a synonym for "later refutation." If you think, "If there is no specific characteristic, how can one know later refutation?" The answer is: Later refutation is easily known as a seemingly correct answer simply by knowing the characteristics of accomplishment and refutation. If you ask, "How can one know a seemingly correct answer by knowing the characteristics of accomplishment and refutation?" The answer is: Because the characteristic of not being an object, the three aspects of the sign, being devoid of contradiction, and not being established, the very absence of the three aspects of the sign is not allowed, it is not an accomplishment. Knowing that it is not the object of accomplishment is also not a refutation, because the object of the characteristic of refutation is not an obstacle to the realization of the true object to be established. Because it does not possess the characteristic of the difference of obstacles that has been explained, it should be known that it is not particularly a refutation. Because there is no other form, one can know it as a seemingly correct answer by examining it oneself. The detailed classifications of these, the classifications of the forms of differences, are endless because the improper attention is limitless, and because they are endless, they cannot be shown. For example, in order to show valid knowledge, stating the sign is also showing, and likewise, stating the negation of the sign, and the seemingly negation, is also to be shown to children. Even if the true sign is stated, the opponent will raise objections like some people. In order not to state to the opponent, or in order not to let the opponent not understand the statement that is not true, and the part of the rebuttal that accomplishes. Because the opponent and the rebuttal, as I have said, in order to know the statement that turns into a part of valid knowledge, together with the incompatible aspect, and the non-part together with the incompatible aspect, therefore, it is explained together with the seemingly refutation. If you want to show the collection, how can you summarize it? For example, this is the meaning that must be determined, only in non-existence itself is non-existence, not in others, nor in contradiction, thus it is said that the three aspects are the meaning of determination. But you follow and

It is like explaining something in order to understand the usage of certain words. If someone asks: Should it also be explained like that? The answer is: The sutras have clarified it, but the commentaries have not, because the commentaries themselves are not the sutras. The Svatantrika school and other earlier schools have reversed the connection. The scriptures cannot be changed into other treatises because of the commentaries, so that is why the scriptures themselves are explained. If someone asks: Why is it said that this is not the treatise of the teacher? The answer is: Because the teacher saw the meaningful and fruitful way of reasoning, therefore the commentary that contradicts this is not the teacher's. If someone asks: If even the commentary cannot be trusted, then what should be relied upon to explain? The answer is: Do not rely on anything, but abandon the scriptures, abandon the meaning from the lecturers to explain. Those lecturers, because they do not value the scriptures and their minds are confused, cannot see the problem correctly. If someone asks: If the scriptures are abandoned, then how should they be explained? The answer is: Then say "this is similar to that," or say "it is like that." Whether there are scriptures or not, one should say with an supreme attitude: "The meaning of this is this, which is approved by valid cognition." If someone asks: Then this idea is your own, not the teacher's, because there is no uninterrupted lineage transmission. The answer is: I said "pure intention," because with a completely pure intention, it can be determined that this must be the idea of that teacher, without a doubt. Having a completely pure wisdom, one will not understand the meaning that does not conform to valid cognition. If someone asks: If this is indeed the teacher's idea, then why did the person who made the commentary not understand it? The answer is: Anyone who has an unclear mind and does not understand the meaning will not understand this idea, only those with clear wisdom can determine that this must be the teacher's idea. In this way, because of the fear of the fault of partiality, for the scriptures like the sea, to distinguish with vast wisdom, this is not without reliance. Falling into the thinking and understanding of views, just like they are able to do. I have completed this through effort, only those who have completed it can understand. I distinguish by valid cognition, even if it is not completely distinguished, I have explained it a little. In this way, liberation and the fruit of perfection should be done well. Through good deeds, sentient beings can obtain the irreversible state, all the supreme Dharma of enlightenment, after obtaining it, they can be free from samsara.

May I thoroughly transcend the ocean! Although unwilling due to the urging of friends, I have definitively completed the explanation. Even though there is no joy in this world, friends still lead me by the hand, guiding me towards the result. Those who follow the words of others, with minds greatly disagreeing, if distraction arises, and there is a glimpse of good speech here, then there, those who are called face-to-face deities, sources of Dharma blessings, and Dharma protectors, are all names of unimpeded manifestation in the world, and they have a slight sprout of realization. In places of good connection, where others find it difficult to pass, having abandoned them for a long time, it is extremely difficult to enter and pass. Reaching the end of what should be traveled, the way of their wisdom is like the king of birds. When the sun rises, light destroys, and in the snow mountains obscured by thick darkness, how can the people who live there, or the lotuses frozen by snow and ice, bloom abundantly? Therefore, great ones, please do not be displeased with me, who am without wisdom. Four thousand three hundred and four, five hundred and sixty-three, twenty-two and thirty, that is two six three. This is the end of the "Commentary on the Discrimination of the Definitive and Indefinitive Meanings: The Reasonable," composed by the learned master Dharmottara. May the meaning and words of this great treatise, like the sun, illuminate and enable people to understand well. Whoever possesses the fragrance of pure discipline, the learned master Dharmottara, the supreme vanquisher of evil views, may the merit arising from the excellent translation of this treatise on valid cognition, which clarifies the true meaning, enable all beings who are attached to wrong views to enter the path of right reasoning! The Kashmiri Pandit Benefiting Others Good Virtue and others, and the Tibetan translator Lodrak Sherab translated it in the City of Unparalleled. In order to show children who know the three aspects of reason but are not good at expressing them, therefore, in the context of explaining to others, the definition of showing the three aspects of reason is explained. Dharmottara.
