Thus it is. Objects and faculties are also established as the cause of consciousness from things that follow and oppose. If objects and faculties are beneficial, or eliminate the obstructions of objects, then effort is also the cause of that consciousness. Even if objects and faculties are not beneficial, how can there be no elimination of obstructions? Because it is impossible to have an obstruction that focuses on permanence. How can you eliminate an obstruction that you have not seen? Answer: Even if I have not seen some obstructions, it is impossible to prevent the ability to generate consciousness that is not inverted from that self and not different from reality. Why is that? Because without creating a distinction for that thing, it is not called "a slight action." Permanence is unchangeable, so obstructions have no slight effect on it. What is it that has no slight effect, and what is the obstruction? Or it is the common action of accomplishing distinctions. If someone thinks that it cannot be denied that another thing that has no slight effect is also regarded as an obstruction, then it is refuted by saying: By inverting or accomplishing what does it become an obstruction? What kind of difference does the wall, etc., which is called an obstruction, create in hindering the ability to generate consciousness for the vase, etc.? Or does it invert the nature of the previously existing ability to generate consciousness? If it is thought that a slight action arises from following and opposing, then for them, there is no following and opposing. If it is thought that not having a slight effect is also an obstruction, then it should also be thought that permanence, which has no slight effect, is also an obstruction. To refute this, it is said: Saying "they," etc. Then, how does it become an obstruction? Answer: Saying "however," all the moments of the vase are the meaning of all, and are the knower. The objects, faculties, and appearances that are mutually aggregated, in order to generate other mutually differentiated moments, because the previous nature is exhausted, are the cause of the arising of root consciousness. Mutually creating differences, saying

So, why is that? Because the object that cannot be benefited by the faculties and appearances should not rely on those two. Similarly, if those two also cannot be benefited by those two, then they will not rely on those two. That which cannot be benefited does not depend on that which cannot benefit. The ability of seeds, etc., to produce the initial difference arises from the very cause of closely gathering, so there is no dependence on each other's differences. Solitary ones are also not the doers. Similarly, although the eye, etc., cannot benefit each other, they are not solitary doers, so they will depend on each other. As it is said in the "Nyayabindu": "The two kinds of results arise simultaneously, arising from the production of differences, and the other." Among them, the initial difference and the eye consciousness arise from the cause that does not produce differences by simultaneous doers. The differences that arise in the second moment, etc., including sprouts, and the eye consciousness that enters darkness from light, arise from the cause that produces differences by simultaneous doers. If that is so, it is true, but nevertheless, the aggregate exists wherever it exists, therefore, the place where the result is produced, the aggregate that exists there is the cause. The occasional nature of these causes does not arise merely from one's own continuum, because that continuum already existed before, so it would be a fault of being a cause. The previous moment is also other, and the subsequent moment is also other, therefore, in some cases, it may have the ability. No, even though the moments are different, the result that has transformed into another continuum is not different. If something is different, then that which is not the same does not depend on it, for example, seeds are different, but smoke is not the same. Similarly, the result is also different in moments, but it is not the same. The moments of the eye are different, but the fruit is seen as the similarity of the eye. Therefore, the occasional nature of different continuums producing the same result is the very awakening by another continuum. The cause that awakens the ability to produce the result of any state is the other continuum of the cause of obtaining that state.
