is uncommon, like audibility, for that reason. It is explained that uncertainty must be determined to be the nature of the property. Why? Because it is not permissible to have doubts about a dharma that is not understood. If there is no certainty about any one of the two dharmas that pervade all the dharmas of things, then wherever it is seen, doubt is generated about those two dharmas. For example, for permanence and impermanence, because audibility itself exists for sound, it generates doubt, just as it is not for form because it does not exist. Uncertainty does not depend on existence or non-existence itself. If seeing the measurable in similar and dissimilar sides is the cause of doubt, then likewise, is audibility not seen to be non-existent in one of permanence and impermanence? If so, how can it be said that it does not depend on the certainty of existence or non-existence? The answer is: "certainty" is also said. It is not said "only uncertainty". Even if it exists, it will become a fault because of doubt itself, because it is the cause of doubt, so it does not depend on certainty. If it is said again that the measurable is seen in similar and dissimilar sides, even so, because it is certain to exist in similar and dissimilar sides, it is not the cause of doubt about sound. However, because two contradictory natures are unreasonable on one sound, and other ways are impossible, is sound permanent or impermanent? Thus, for the subject itself, there will be doubt whether it is permanent or impermanent. Doubting that any one exists for the subject is the same as the uncertainty of existence and non-existence in similar and dissimilar sides. Audibility itself is also like before, is sound permanent or impermanent? Because doubt arises, it is the reason for doubt itself. Therefore, expressing doubt about existence and non-existence in similar sides, expressing it in that way is also a refutation of the uncertainty to be expressed, because it expresses uncertainty. Otherwise, for showing reason or contradiction, it is the debater and the refuter in order.

It is neither a fault nor a refutation, because it does not show a time contrary to reason. When is it not an establishment, nor a refutation of the occasion? It is said: Doubting both existence and non-existence, such as having life and being audible, or doubting one who exists in the concordant side, saying that someone is omniscient because he speaks, this is doubting one who exists in the concordant side. Doubting one who does not exist in the discordant side, such as not being omniscient because he speaks, this is doubting one who does not exist in the discordant side, like that. One is reversed, meaning that which does not exist in the discordant side, such as what can be measured, is neither an establishment nor a refutation. If both are reversed, they are not contradictory, therefore it is said to be one. The law of things, turning away from the discordant side, cannot be understood as being reversed in the concordant side. It must abide in one, so what is determined to be non-existent in the discordant side should not be reversed in the concordant side. Furthermore, why is saying doubt not an establishment, nor a refutation like saying contradiction? Explanation: Such an uncertain branch of establishment is powerless. The power of that establishment is the certainty that it does not arise without it, as has been said. Not only in the common, but also in the uncommon, such as having life and being audible, the entering and returning of the concordant and discordant sides, which are following and preventing, are only the reason for doubt, so it is only the reason for doubt. Why doubt those who have never been seen in the concordant and discordant sides, such as being audible? Explanation: Because it is reasonable to determine to return from both. How is it determined to be unreasonable? Explanation: Because it is impossible to have a transformation from outside of both. With the two aspects of mutually abandoning and abiding, then everything.
