No. However, since there is no action to negate possibility, manifest cognition is not doubted, but it is not abandoned. If there is a measure of the moon, then certainty is not possible. In this way, through the power of meaning, inference shows the damaging effect of fame arising from sound. Since there is no measure of the moon, it should be observed that it is stated definitively through measure. If so, then the later collections of treatises will be reasonable. Then, in the Pramāṇavārttika, it says: "Fame is inference, therefore it is so. That which is established by inference, possessing non-contradiction and non-confusion, is shown to be non-existent." What does this mean? This is also the same meaning here. Because fame is also inference, therefore, the so-called "so" is through doubting that inference harms fame, thereby explaining non-contradiction and non-confusion. The commentary is understood from this very treatise, which is clearly recognized as being beyond the intention of the teacher. The places where the commentary disagrees with the teacher are explained in the second chapter. For the time being, in order to show that it cannot be negated, it is said "that," negating possibility arises from inference. Why? Because manifest cognition negating possibility is an uncertain cause. Things to be cognized by manifest cognition, such as pots, are merely the power of determining the ground, because not observing non-existence definitively is a convention. The possibility of sound exists as the nature appearing to conceptual thought, it is not to be cognized by the sense faculties. Therefore, the negation of the possibility of sound, which is not manifest cognition, is not manifest cognition, but arises from inference. Because it is a unique reason, that is also impossible, therefore, the things that one wants to express with sound cannot be negated. Isn't it said that only existence is unique? Isn't it said that all reasons are not? The answer is: For the thing to be established, whatever thing to be established that existence itself does not follow, for that, all reasons are unique. Although existence itself is universally pervasive, because it does not follow the thing to be established, therefore, what other reason can establish
