It is said, if it is thought that through it, it is shown that for other inferences, there is no non-contradictory, non-erroneous (situation), then, if that is the case, then because Chandrakirti has no valid cognition, it is necessary to apply (this view) to other inferences, not to the inference of Chandrakirti himself. Because, due to the uncommonness, there is no inference, this meaning is to be expressed in any case, so this aspect is appropriate. If it is said that this aspect that is going to be explained is also expressed by "fame arising from sound" itself, then, for that situation where there is no inference due to the uncommonness, what the words of this treatise itself are to express is that for inference, it is said that there is no non-contradictory, non-erroneous (situation). For example, if the very thing that sound is to express has no antidote to inference, it will change, just like that, it is also the same for other inferences, because it also shows other inferences, so what is the use of saying fame arising from sound? Therefore, what is going to be explained, such as "because it is definitely said through valid cognition," etc., is expressed by "fame arising from sound," and "because Chandrakirti has no valid cognition, so it is certain" is explained by "for what there is no inference," this aspect is also unreasonable. Because, what is going to be explained, "because Chandrakirti has no valid cognition, so it is definitely said," this treatise itself seems to be a detailed explanation. Furthermore, for what there is no inference, what the very words of this itself are to express, for inference, it is said that there is no non-contradictory, non-erroneous (situation), then it is only showing that there is no (such situation) for other inferences either, so saying fame arising from sound, for the inference that sound is to express, or for other (inferences), to show that there is no non-contradictory, non-erroneous (situation), does not exist. For these three aspects, the concluding treatise is: Therefore, if it is said that valid cognitions harm, then how is it known that it is definitely said from within it? If it is said that valid cognitions harm what? Some say that sound is not audible, and that sound is permanent.

This answer is like that. But it is not so, because it is about the case of "because it is not common to something" and so on. Others say that eliminating by fame arising from sound means that by saying that fame arising from sound is harmed, it also applies to direct perception and inference. If that is the case, then this statement, "because this and annihilation are definitely stated," also refers to the same meaning, that by saying that fame arising from sound is harmed, the validity is definitely stated, and because it is definite, there is no other validity. If that is so, then by saying that direct perception and inference harm the seemingly similar aspects, it is also definitely stated. So, what is the special advantage of this? Because this will clearly show that there is no other validity, not direct perception and inference. Therefore, this is certain. The meaning here is: because it is not common to something, there is no inference, and the reason for saying so is because there is no other validity, so the validity clearly shows this. This completely abandons inference, and by saying that fame arising from sound is harmed, if there is inference, then it would be said that fame arising from sound would be harmed. Because the harmer also harms the fame arising from sound, it would be said that inference is definitely certain, but not just saying harm. Even trustworthy words only say harm, but it is not definitely certain, because it is an obstacle with doubtful results. Similarly, even if it is said that inference harms the seemingly similar aspects, it will be doubted whether it is definitely certain. This is because fame arising from sound, and trustworthy words similar to it, etc., also harm the harmer, therefore it is said to be definitely certain. If that is the case, and there is no difference from validity, then direct perception will also harm, therefore it is said to be definitely certain.
