The word "ni" means the sound of "also." Although desire is mentioned, there is a distinction that should be pointed out as one's own word, that is its meaning. Explaining that distinction is, "for one subject," that is its meaning. The many dharmas are impermanence itself, being made, and the qualities of space, and so on. The meaning of one's own word is "self," meaning that whatever dharmas are desired by the author are not to be established, but only the self. "Even though the treatise has been accepted" means that at the time of debate, the treatise should not be accepted, and even if it is accepted, only the self that one desires should be established, and not others. In order to understand this meaning, the word "self" is used. Where there is the word of desire, even if all desires other than what one intends to refute can be dispelled, it is said that in one's own commentary, the word "self" is used to dispel the possibility of doubt. The author of the sutra also vowed that this is the meaning. The teaching of the connection is that "self" means that one's own word is connected to showing the commitment. Why is there doubt? It is said, because the treatise has been accepted. The view on this is the view on the treatise, meaning that whatever dharma is desired by the author will also become accepted, so just as one dharma should be established, others should also be established, and thus doubt will arise. Therefore, even if there is a wrong understanding, the self is mentioned because there is doubt. Wrong understanding is also the view itself, so in order to dispel it, the self is also mentioned. Some say that if one sees from the treatise, then it is only to be established, and what is to be established is not that, this is only what has been established, for example, what is seen from the treatise is to be established. "If it harms what is seen from the treatise," because all the meanings of the treatise should be established. By being made, it harms the qualities of space itself.

Some say that this is because the fault of logical contradiction and commitment is eliminated by inference. Because those who say in the treatises that everything visible should be proven, therefore, from the subject of 'odor' which has the sign of 'being made,' in order to eliminate the qualities of earth, the reason of 'being made' becomes contradictory. Because 'being made' can eliminate the qualities of earth. Because qualities and things possessing qualities are of a nature of mutual dependence. For momentary things, there is no dependence at all, because the unestablished does not exist, and the established does not depend on anything. Therefore, when impermanence is proven by 'being made,' it eliminates the qualities themselves and all dependencies. Therefore, sound always eliminates the qualities of space. Whatever exists or is made is not a quality of space or a quality of earth, like a pot. A pot is a substance, not a quality. Sound or smell, is existent or made. What sound depends on is the quality of space itself, and what smell depends on is the quality of earth itself. In the treatises, there is no difference at all. Therefore, if sound, because it eliminates the quality of space, is contradictory, then why is smell not considered contradictory because it eliminates the quality of earth? Because the quality of earth itself is irrelevant, because it is not relevant, and harming what is relevant leads to logical contradiction. If it is said that because it is irrelevant, even if it harms the quality of earth itself that has not become the object to be proven, it is not a logical contradiction, this is reasonable, but that irrelevance is the same for the other quality of space itself. Therefore, because it harms the irrelevant quality of space, it will not become a logical contradiction. This is not the same, because the realm of the quality of space itself, here as the subject, whatever is called sound, is relevant. Any common subject of a dharma that is irrelevant is itself relevant, because the dependent is relevant. Therefore, whatever should be proven, and is proven conversely, is also a logical contradiction. The quality of earth itself is a relevant subject.
