Thus it is. Here, the example that is cited in order to show what meaning, if it can fully show the reason for following, then there is no verbal combination of following. In terms of ultimate truth, there is indeed a reason for following. Therefore, is this the fault of the speaker? For example, from the impermanence of a pot, one understands without confusion that it is made, and thus understands that sound is impermanent. Here, one does not say without confusion that being made is impermanent. However, for this statement, it is said that being made is a common function due to the similarity of dharma. For example, a pot is made, it is impermanent, similarly, sound is also made, therefore it will be permanent. Merely because some dharmas are similar, it does not mean that other aspects of other dharmas should also be the same, because this would be too extreme. Similarly, for any example that has a reversed reason for following, it should be called that. Whatever is said in this way, it should be clearly pointed out that being made itself is impermanence, so that what is to be proven can be understood from it. When it is said that whatever is impermanent is made, if impermanence is determined as being made, then since it is not clearly stated that being made is impermanent, there will be doubt that it also applies to other things, and thus it cannot be understood. Therefore, since the example does not show the nature by which the reason makes understanding possible, this is the fault of the speaker, thus creating the fault of the example. These nine faults of the example are cases where the dharma is the same. In the case where the dharma is not the same, whatever is not permanent is not embodied, this is to reverse the proponent by reversing what is to be proven. The examples of atoms, karma, and space are all cases where there is no reversal of what is to be proven, etc. Atoms are permanent, therefore permanence itself has no reversal. Karma is not embodied, therefore there is no case of not being embodied. Space is permanent and not embodied, therefore neither has a reversal. For any example, etc., where there is doubt about reversal, it should also be explained, therefore it is like the Nyāyabindu. The case where reversal is not fully shown is that sound is impermanent because it is made, like space. The reversal of reversal is that whatever is not made is permanent, for example, space.

It is called "Xin Nuo." Because for dissimilar examples, it is necessary to clearly point out the opposite of what is to be proven and the opposite of what can be established. In this way, wherever there is something that can be established, what is to be proven will be established. Here, for one example, just as the sky is not permanent, sound is not made, it is not unmade, but merely pointing out the dissimilar nature by being unmade. Merely through the dissimilarity of one property, it is not certain that all properties are dissimilar, because all things are seen to have both similarities and dissimilarities in all aspects. Therefore, since it is pointed out by the opposite of the reason that can be understood, the fault of the example arises from the fault of the person. For another example, it must be clearly pointed out that the opposite of what can be established corresponds to the opposite of what is to be proven. After recounting the opposite of what can be established, "Whatever is not made," it is because it proves the opposite of what is to be proven, "That is permanent." If what is to be proven is produced by effort, since the impermanence itself that can be established has no opposite, even so, impermanence itself is not understandable. Therefore, the reversal of the opposite is also due to the fault of the person. And why do these produce faults, and how can they be manifested? Because these cannot point out the general characteristics of the argument, that is, the existence or non-existence in the similar and dissimilar sides, or cannot point out the special characteristics, that is, its self-nature and what arises from it. Therefore, they should be manifested through the arrival of meaning. If the example does not touch the realm of measure that harms in the manner of argument, but is a limb that establishes itself as independent, not as its limb, then, even if it does not touch the manner of argument, the example will become meaningless because the meaning to be proven and the example are not related. To dispel that, it is said: If at that time, the example showing the realm of measure does not show its self-nature and what arises from it, there is no deception for what is to be proven, then, for the establishment of what is to be proven, the example becomes completely unnecessary, because it is not related to what is to be proven. If the example is what is to be proven
