Since it is not the reason of action, since it is not the occasion of treatises, therefore all inferences are not. If it is thought that what is made is harmed by the valid means itself, then what is to be done by fully accepting the one who speaks clearly? If the nature of that which is clearly manifest, for sound, does not realize the valid means, then what is to be done by the one who speaks clearly but is not a valid means? Because it is like that, whatever inference relies on the treatise, whatever has the third aspect related to the treatise, that should be stated through the means of the treatise. Other inferences, because they are not understood, should be stated as unestablished to either party. The difference between death and shape is made clear by the valid means itself, and because the proponent does not fully understand the nature of the reason, it is stated as unestablished to the opponent. Impermanence itself is unestablished to the proponent Samkhya, therefore impermanence itself is unestablished to the proponent. Therefore, for what is seen, the reason has established its own nature, and for what is not seen, because the valid means has not established it, it is stated as unestablished to either party. Therefore, the example is not stated. If asked, how is the example made by the teacher unestablished to the one who speaks clearly? The teacher only stated a part of the aspect of the example. If asked, how is it that one thing famous in the treatise is unestablished to the other party that does not possess that treatise, similarly, whatever thing is fully established by the valid means, wherever it is not admitted by the opponent, therefore it is unestablished to the opponent, and whatever is established by the valid means to the opponent, also because the proponent does not understand the valid means, it is stated as unestablished to the proponent, but not relying on the treatise. For those who do not think that one part of the meaning of the proposition is unestablished, it is said like this: Whatever part of the meaning of the proposition, the dharma or the subject of dharma is unestablished. The subject of dharma, for example, is temporarily like: sound is impermanent, because it is sound, and so on. If asked, isn't it already established that there is a general aspect, called the subject of dharma, sound? The answer is: yes. Because what is to be proven and what proves are different.

It is also like that. It is not desirable that what is to be established is the establisher itself. The subject of what is to be established is established by itself. For what is to be established, if the establisher is not established, then it is said that the subject is not established as the reason for self-establishment. It is said that sound is not completely unestablished, but that it is not established as the means of knowing in establishing impermanence itself. Like this, that itself is not my establisher. What is the reason for that? Because its nature is merely sound, and it is related to what is to be established, merely sound, because showing the proposition itself establishes what is to be established. Furthermore, showing sound is meaningless, therefore that itself is the establisher. Someone thinks, previously it was shown as the nature of what is to be established, and later it is determined to be the nature of the establisher, how could it become meaningless? The answer is, for the sound that is shown as the nature of what is to be established, when it is later shown as the establisher, nothing of the unshown part of the meaning is shown. In either case, it only shows the difference from non-sound. Sound is one way when showing what is to be established, and another way when showing it as the establisher. Different sounds do not establish different meanings, because it is too much. Therefore, when sound shows the reason, sound itself becomes impermanent, and when showing the property of the subject, it is as if it has already been established, and later when showing the reason, it is also only relying on itself, only relying on its own nature, like that establishing impermanence. When showing what is to be established, it is also not established only by relying on its own nature, therefore, itself does not become the reason for itself. Another person sees that only sound is established, and says how can sound not be established? Although it is established, even so, it itself is not established as the reason for establishing impermanence, therefore it is not established. Whatever is taken as the subject, and becomes the reason pervaded by what is to be established, there is no other sound other than that sound which is taken as the subject. If that itself is the reason, then the subject
