Therefore, it is not obvious, nor is it an inference arising from the power of things, thus it is difficult to accept. Because the statement of a non-valid cognizer is not supremely sacred. Therefore, what is called "therefore" is an inference for the understander. If it were not so, the statement "because there is no inference" would become contradictory. How is it not obvious? That is "it is also so." If one thinks that, according to the self-awareness proponents, it is harmed by the obvious, then that is "regarding that." The way to express refutation is "understanding itself." If one says that, what will happen? That is "saying that." If one says that, then it will be harmed by the obvious, but it is not eliminated by fame. That is its meaning. If one thinks, then what should one say? That is "if." If there is understanding of the moon from the sound of the moon, even so, this is not true, just like understanding two moons. Saying that, it shows that this statement is harmed by fame. By showing that understanding itself is inference, it shows truth itself. Why is that? That is "the former, the former." From "if" to "will become inference" is the argument. If one thinks, how does it become inference? That is "with the former seen." If one thinks, why is it not the sign of self-nature? That is "sound is of meaning." What makes inference itself clear is "sound and." What is called "inference" is ultimate. The answer is "if it is so." Sound is the cause of inference. Because it is understood from inference, it will be related to association. Then, what is the association related to sound? That is "sound is of meaning," meaning that meaning is the proximate cause, and sound is the result arising from the proximate cause. However, the association between sound and meaning, this nature of cause and effect, is not permanent. Therefore, understanding from sound is merely an inference of things, if one thinks so, that is "sound is." If one thinks, then how are these two related? That is "therefore," meaning not propelled by the meaning to be expressed.

It is because of that. Here, it refers to sound and meaning. In other aspects, that is, in the ultimate sense, it is not. Why? Because it is said, "intention." However, even if there is no connection, even so, understanding meaning from sound is certainly existent, if it is said like that. "Certainly existent" is said like this. This refers to understanding meaning from sound. This means that it is an inference following observation. If this is the sign of the result, then how? This is a question. The external object related to the near acquisition, which is clearly expressed by the symbol, is that not the cause in the ultimate sense? Thus it is connected. Then how is the external object the near acquisition of sound? If it is thought that intention is like that, it is the cause of near acquisition. Why is it the cause in the ultimate sense? Because it is said, "other." Even if there is no intention to explicitly express the meaning, it is because there is sound. When is it? If it is thought, it is said, "other." "Without wanting to express" means, when it is only wanting to be accustomed. Because this abandons the cause of the lineage, the direct cause is extended far away, thus it is shown. However, even if it does not arise without that, is that the cause of sound? If it is thought, it is said, "which." If that is the case, then everything will become the cause of everything, it is thought like that. Therefore, this cannot be a valid reason for the ultimate result. Then how is it the reason of nature? Because it is said, "therefore." This meaning is. What is expressible is what is to be proven. Only from that, it means, only from the nature that arises from wanting to be the near acquisition itself, is what is to be expressed, and not others. The cause itself spread by intention is what is to be expressed, and not others. That is the nature, that is the meaning. "Near acquisition itself" means, establishing it as such itself is what is to be expressed, and not relying on others, that is the meaning. Then what is fame? If it is thought, therefore it is said like this. If fame is worldly usage, then how is near acquisition also fame? If it is thought, it is said, "worldly." For what reason?
