If it is written, "Because it is not valid cognition," then, the response of others is "It is valid cognition." If the proponent of established tenets says, "If that is the case, then one's own position is established," that is, "If that is the case, then." If it is said that one should not accept what contradicts a phenomenon established in scripture, because that itself would be harmful, then, if the scripture itself states contradictions, what kind of analysis should be done? That is, "Regarding this, most investigations are." This phenomenon established in scripture shows that most statements are contradictory, because the scripture itself shows two contradictory phenomena. A phenomenon that is completely established by scripture, such as non-dharma having causes like attachment, and purification through bathing, are contradictory statements in scripture. Because it does not contradict the reason, it is reasoned and does not revert. If one asks, are there some scriptures that state such a thing? That is, "It is also said thus." "Of the mind," etc., indicate that non-dharma, such as attachment, is the cause, and attachment, etc., are not reversed by bathing with doubt. And "The gate of the Ganges," etc., indicate that liberation is because the bath itself, which does not harm attachment, etc., is free from non-dharma. Therefore, the scriptures themselves state mutual contradictions, so they are mutually contradictory, but there is no harm here. "Merely contradictory" means that if one only thinks about meaningless mutual contradictions without acceptance or rejection, then what is the point of thinking about the contradiction with the accepted scripture? Because it is not necessary, it should not be thought about. But if it is indeed necessary, then this kind of situation should also be thought about, which is "seeing and." Thus, having explained the contradiction with belief, in order to explain the contradiction with fame, it is said, "By fame." The opponent cannot tolerate fame being another harmer, so he says, "If." There, it refers to the words of belief. "There" refers to abiding as such. "The thing itself" refers to being non-different from inference.
