It should also be understood in this way. Therefore, saying "oneself" is to avoid having to fulfill the desire to create treatises. If the desire to create treatises must be fulfilled, then just like the commentators on the treatises of Master Dignāga, saying "oneself" would become meaningless. To refute this, it is said "furthermore." If the desire to create treatises is also indicated by saying "oneself," then at that time saying "oneself" would also become meaningless. Why? Because it is related to things outside of the characteristics of the subject. Defining is for the purpose of eliminating wrong understanding. If one admits that the desire to create treatises must be fulfilled, then the word "oneself" becomes irrelevant. The explanation is "of oneself." "That" refers to the meaning of dispelling the desire to create treatises. "That also" refers to the desire to create treatises. "That" refers to saying "oneself." Why is it thought so? Because if it is so, the desire to create treatises is also something to be accomplished. The meaning of the characteristics of the subject is to eliminate wrong understanding, because it is unrelated to this. To dispel the doubt that the word "of oneself" has other necessities, it is said "if." The answer is "then." The thought is this: if someone says that the desire to create treatises is not something that must be fulfilled, then at that time it will be doubted that the treatise maker is not someone who must fulfill the desire. When everyone admits that the desire to create treatises is something that must be fulfilled, how can there be doubt about dispelling it? Therefore, saying "oneself" is not for the purpose of dispelling the desire. For those who, by saying "oneself," presuppose that one should enter the treatises with desire, is this obstructed by valid cognition or is it obstructed? To this, if valid cognition does not obstruct, then at that time who will prevent the holders of the treatises who enter by saying "oneself"? If valid cognition obstructs, then at that time what verbal disputant will enter those treatises that become meaningful by saying "oneself"? Connected with conceptual thought

The meaning is that desire is only rooted in valid cognition. However, if you doubt that "self" is mentioned for the purpose of entering a state that is not preceded by conceptualization, then how are those stated? How can it not be obtained? Because there is only the desire to obtain it. Therefore, it is also meaningless to mention "self" for the purpose of entering without being preceded by conceptualization. Therefore, the word "self" is only transformed from outside the nature of the tenet. This refers to the fact that if the scriptures are meant to be entered, etc., because it is not clearly explained, now if there is no obstruction by valid cognition, etc., it is a separate fabrication. Because one enters after fully examining all the scriptures, if one thinks that "self" is mentioned for the purpose of entering the scope of each determination, then it is "all scriptures are," etc. The so-called "therefore" is because it cannot endure separate examination. That is also harmed by valid cognition, and precisely because of that, it is completely incorrect, because it is impossible to enter from such scriptures. Therefore, because "self" is mentioned, the so-called entry in the scriptures, that possibility simply does not exist. This is the explanation of the Pramāṇavārttika of "if obstructed by valid cognition, again," etc. Now, further explaining the remainder of the Pramāṇavārttika, it is "if not a conceptualizer, then." The first is to acknowledge the scriptures with desire, and the second is because "self" is mentioned, if you think so, then it is "the first," etc. It is only desire, and it enters by it. Therefore, it is because of desire. Similarly, it is as initially acknowledged. Therefore, even considering the two conceptualizations, it is completely meaningless to say "self." The so-called "those meanings" are to welcome questions. If one thinks that in order to enter those scriptures, those learn with the nature of "self," the answer is that one cannot enter the scriptures merely by desire, however, what should be learned is to recognize that one can enter through complete examination. Explaining this itself is "if," etc. Stating the aspect to be proven is "as before," etc. The so-called "here" refers to acknowledging the scriptures, and the reasoning should be shown in that way. What will it become?
