It should be said what the merits are. However, "however" refers to others. The answer is, "that is," which refers to greatness itself, and so on. Therefore, some of the individual self-natures of myself and other things should be explained separately. If it is not like that, then I and time cannot be distinguished. Giving is the existence of obtaining the self-nature of things, while preventing is its non-existence. It is said: "Time ripens beings, time destroys beings." That is what is said. Healing is producing, that is, abiding. Destruction is making it non-existent, that is, preventing. These two are the merits of time, that is the meaning. The answer is, "those are." Therefore, time cannot bear abiding and preventing. Or, even if it is so, but still it is said that it is not different from myself and other things, that is "another." If time, by means of pervasiveness and permanence, can also abide and prevent, Then at that time I will also obtain that ability. Why? Because apart from the desired time, I have no difference in pervasiveness and permanence. If you think there is any difference, it is like this. "This is" refers to time. "This is not" refers to myself and other things. Like this, after preventing space and so on, if sound is not of space, then it also contradicts the valid measure. For what is said, the conclusion of the established tenet is, therefore. "This is just space" is the argument. "This is sound, if understood." The answer is, "burning etc." "Is it not seeing?" means "it is only seeing." Even if it is so, why not say the merits of burning etc., that is, that space? The doubt is, is there anything other than space as the basis for "that" burning etc.? The answer is, "unreasonable." Or, even if space is allowed to exist, but to say that it is not the cause of abiding, that is "space is." To show that that space is only an unexamined existence, not a real existence, that is "if appearance exists." This is a close analogy, that is, if there is darkness.
