It becomes not following after inference for others, because it speaks of the two aspects, that is what is thought. But if it is thought that the statement that shows the two aspects is also an inference for others, then it should be said "his". "This" etc. are the answers. Saying "therefore" is for the purpose of remembering the connection of the statement that is grasped. Among them, it refers to the words that speak of the connection. "Saying measure" refers to the words of inference for others. If it is not the meaning of direct perception, then why? It is said, "By direct perception." If the *Pramāṇavārttika* says that there is no meaning of words in what is realized by valid cognition, then why does it say it? It says, "For the wise." If so, how is this known? Because the pervasion is established here, saying that is not, because it is not established, only the reason should be said, is it for the sake of understanding this meaning? It says, "Likewise," this is only a slight indication, the meaning is that it should be observed in this way. This, from the perspective of the one who realizes is not deluded, If one aspect is established from the dharmadhātu etc., then showing the two aspects is also an inference for others, this is what is shown. Realizing that is also realized from the occasion etc. From the perspective of the one who realizes is deluded, showing the three aspects of the sign is an inference of the meaning for others, saying that is "or". "There" also refers to the smoke seen directly. If it is thought that direct perception is established, what is the use of saying words? It says, "The meaning of the words is." The meaning of the words "This is smoke", what is needed is the nature that will be explained, that is, the three aspects of the sign are clear. Showing that direct perception is established is not the meaning of the doubt of words. Saying that itself is "there", that is, in the place. The meaning seen by direct perception, that is, its own nature. Saying "this" word is an inference for others, not the direct perception of the meaning for others, because it is the cause of that.

Because the word "is" is the cause of inference. How does this word become a sign of the three aspects of the nature of its own nature, thereby becoming an inference, and indicating that inference? That is to say, "This is smoke." If even so, how does it become a sign indicating the three aspects? Because the relationship is not stated. The answer is, "That" is stated. And how is it not transformed into other aspects? "That" is stated, because it is the same in nature as the smoke seen previously. If it is not said that this meaning has already been directly shown by words, and isn't that what the world says? Then, how is that word not the cause of direct perception? To dispel doubts, what is said is "therefore." The meaning of "other" is that by saying "This is smoke," direct perception is shown. Then, "the word is," etc., are others. If direct perception has no function of sound, then add "the word is." Why? Because the word "that" is the cause of inferring nature. The word is not the cause of inference, thus linking them together. What is that word that is not the cause of inference? It is said, "There is smoke here." Why? Because it is said, "The word is." The conclusion is, in order to show that even in self-meaning inference there is no cause inference, it is "that," it is not that only in inference for the sake of others is there no cause inference. Why? Because "self-meaning" is stated, not only at the time of inference for the sake of others, but also at the time of self-meaning inference, in between, the reason of nature enters. Where? In the nature of smoke, because that smoke is the nature of the inference that has the nature of that nature. If the sign of nature enters in between, the answer is, there also "also" is said, that is to say, observation is also made on the nature of smoke, thus the inferrer mistakenly thinks that nature is a sign, and without that inference of nature, this error will not be eliminated. Therefore, even in self-meaning inference, there is no cause inference.

Now, the meaning of "that also" is explained. Furthermore, in order to show the opponent that there is no reason of effect in the inference made for others, it is from "Here it is said" to "If so." "Here" refers to the reason of effect and what is interrupted by the inference of its own nature. "If one thinks it will not disappear," then it is said "in between," which is the reason of effect. "Self-meaning" refers to explanation. The meaning of "where it is close to need" is "there is no contradiction." In this way, if for the self-meaning inference, smoke is the reason of effect, even so, it will still become the reason of effect. Initially, seeing smoke is the reason of effect, and afterwards there may be illusion, so when making the inference of its own nature, it is the reason of its own nature, and afterwards it is the inference of the cause. Regarding this, if even interrupted by the inference of its own nature, the reason of effect itself will not contradict. In this way, the inference of the cause is only entering. Then, if one thinks that in the inference made for others, only the inference of the cause will occur, then it is said "in the inference made for others." Because the inference made for others is language itself, and language actually shows the reason of its own nature, so there is only the inference of its own nature. Therefore, there is no reason of effect in the inference made for others. Therefore, because there is no reason of effect, "inferring fire" refers to the cause to be established. The answer is "that is not." The sentence "How is it possible," that is, the sentence "This is smoke," is the inference made for others relying on its own nature, but not relying on the effect. "To others" means that there is no inference made for others on the cause, and the scriptures say that the inference made for others relies on its own nature, that is its meaning. What is said, "What contradiction is there also," etc., also depends only on the illusion of the knower.
