So. Similarly, any general concept is not an object of linguistic expression either. Therefore, since it is not seen how it is universally accepted, the concept of smoke pervading fire is not understood anywhere. The phrase "from this very valid cognition" is to dispel doubt, i.e., from the sign of not being an উৎপল (Sanskrit Devanagari: utpala, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: utpala, Chinese literal meaning: blue lotus). The answer is the phrase "it is not." If, at the time of universal acceptance, the general concept is proven to exist, then it is inference. If someone thinks, if at the time of universal acceptance, the general concept is not proven to exist, then what will cause the fault of mutual contradiction? The answer is stated, "For that which is not proven, there is no possibility of a general form." This means that there is no general concept separate from the particular. The meaning of "not a reason" is that just as the impermanence of sound needs to be proven, any concordant aspect is a reason. Similarly, the reason of not being an উৎপল (Sanskrit Devanagari: utpala, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: utpala, Chinese literal meaning: blue lotus) is also not to be proven. Why is it not a reason? The answer is "like this." If someone thinks it does not exist in sound, then the answer is "in sound." The meaning is "not without contradiction, but because there is contradiction." The statement of contradiction is "any one," because it is an object of distinguishing in this way or that way, therefore, for sound as the subject, the two are contradictory. Because for it, only one side exists. If someone thinks that even if only one side exists, it will be very close to the other side, then the answer is "the certain thing." After stating the measurable contradiction, stating the contradiction of sound is "other." "This" refers to anything that needs to be proven or is being proven. "Cloth" means that abandoning the pot as the subject, the cloth itself will become the subject. "Generally" means even if the pot is not the subject. "This very fault" refers to the characteristic of the known needing to be proven. "That" means that such a person should not be abandoned. "What is the result" is because the known needs to be proven. "Unwilling" means starting from proving the opposite. "Both" refers to the pot, because the pot is listed twice, i.e., a person or any pot. "Trembling" refers to combination. "Contradictory to one's own words" refers to what

Furthermore, "any" refers to showing uncertainty, while "to be proven" refers to certainty. Establishing this argument is like this. However, even so, saying anything is to show the opposite of certainty. If one thinks: if it is "any," how can it prove the opposite of certainty? That is not the only one. The other party replies: no. Asking the Carvaka, who speaks of established tenets, is: how? The other's answer is: implication. Those of established tenets, after analyzing in detail, refute, and that is implication. The so-called "reason" refers to non-utpala. The so-called "word" refers to because of non-utpala. The so-called expression of uncertainty is like this. Furthermore, there are also beings who possess the next world. Preventing the second case is: however. This word "eat" intends to express the meaning of eating. However, if such a man can follow the second case, then the combination should also be shown in the same way, saying: if like a pot. The so-called like a pot, refers to how, as a subject, the pot is established by valid cognition. At the time of grasping pervasion, what is obtained is the pervasion that is established by valid cognition, that is, the very existence of certainty, and if it exists, it is said like that. The so-called word refers to whatever is non-utpala, that is, such a man is together with the second, that is such a nature. The so-called "through this" refers to through manifestly clear mind, etc. If that is the case, then for the person to be proven, whatever expresses refutation is a similar conceptualization. Through sound, etc., after restating the argument, refuting, saying: no, it is similar. Why? Because in the example, destruction has been established, so it is to prove that sound possesses destruction. Just as destruction has been previously established, if on other things such as walls, such a man has been previously established, then the pot will also possess such a man. The so-called "speech" refers to
