The term "thus" refers to the object of approximate measurement. The term "thus" is used to establish a connection with the distinction of sound. Being connected with sound is considered to be the object of approximate measurement. So, is it understood through indirect or direct means? If it is understood directly, it would fall into direct perception. Even if it is understood indirectly, it is necessary to grasp its connection with it. Moreover, in some cases, it can only be done on the premise of having seen it before, and even so, it is only included in inference because it possesses the three characteristics. If it is thought that two valid cognitions would be involved in this, that is why it is said to be "approximate measurement." The so-called approximate measurement, even those who say that the object of valid cognition is approximate measurement, do not consider inference to be another valid cognition. The term "its" refers to the "its" of approximate measurement. Apart from the two people holding sticks, there is no similarity whatsoever to being called "having a stick." The term "that" refers to the "that" of "other." If it has no other similarities, then how is the understanding of "like this" at this time? This understanding touches upon a meaning that transcends the mere lump. If it were just a lump, then it would be understood as "this is speckled," "this is a cow," and not as "like this." Because there is also the understanding of "this is similar," will other similarities that transcend the lump be understood? It is not so, the so-called "is" is the established tenet. There are two ways to infer the cause from the effect: either, like inferring fire from smoke, seeing the cause and effect separate simultaneously; or even if there are other capable causes, the effect will not arise, for example, like from the non-arising of faults, like the senses. First, eliminating the first case, which is "if" The term "if" means that if one infers the cause from the effect of seeing the cause and the momentary connection of manifest and non-manifest things, then one should also obtain seeing the cause of the characteristic of similarity. For example, like inferring fire from smoke. Since it is not seen, how can it be inferred from the effect of seeing the connection? "Manifest perception also cannot infer similarity," this is what is said in "furthermore." The term "therein" is

Is it similarity itself or solidity itself? If it is thought that it will appear to the discriminating mind, it is called a thing. Even so, if it is said that similarity is established, it should be made without self-appearance. Speaking from the perspective of dualistic discrimination, it is called unobstructed similarity. The so-called "if fully examined" means that when analyzed in detail, similarity itself does not possess any inherent nature. Therefore, similarity is merely non-existent. Then, how does the discriminating mind that "this is similar" become an undeceptive term? It is called "thing." The so-called "by this" refers to the knowledge that "this is similar," which can establish the name of a thing because it can accomplish what needs to be done. From where does it come? Because it is indirectly related to the thing of ultimate truth. Therefore, the knowledge that "this is similar" should not regard similarity as permanent because it contradicts something else. Then, if the function of similarity contradicts something else, will it change? From similarity itself, no function is seen, because the function of milk, etc., can also be seen from buffaloes, etc. The so-called "inner difference" refers to the various functions produced by similarity and other things. The so-called "there also" refers to the same in similar things. Explaining "from similarity itself," etc., means "by what." Therefore, from the function of similarity, there is no non-deception, because the knowledge that examines similarity is uncertain. The so-called "other" refers to similar things. Just as the other function of similarity has been pointed out, dissimilarity also needs to be examined, which is its meaning. Like similarity, dissimilarity is not the view of others either. The so-called "that" refers to The argument is that dissimilarity. The answer is "similarity also." The so-called "similarity itself" is a doubt, which is the very nature of things. The so-called "how" is the answer. This is spoken based on the aspect of negating non-existence. Furthermore, if the non-existence of dissimilarity is accumulated, wouldn't it become the nature of similarity? If it is not so, wouldn't it become the name of similarity because there is no dissimilarity? The so-called "dissimilarity itself." The so-called "that" refers only to the absence of dissimilarity. From then on, similarity is merely non-existent.
