It is also the cause. It has already been said that the necessity, called "it is said," is because the word is the cause of inference, and thus it shows the meaning. If you do not understand that it is its cause, then it will not show the meaning in your own continuum. If you say "if," this is someone else's view. Called "because of that itself," this is the established tenet. Because it is not valid cognition, what arises from words that is not valid cognition is memory. It has already been shown that sounds are not valid cognition for external objects. If it were not so, then the word itself would be valid cognition. From that, that is, from the word. From the word that has become valid cognition, only the knowledge that has become valid cognition will arise, thus it is shown. Saying the opposite is called "not memory." Memory is not valid cognition, because it is not valid cognition. The word is also not valid cognition for memory, because it is the agent, thus saying, it is called "for memory also." "Meaning and" etc. are arguments. Because it is not related to meaning, how can that memory arise from that word? Why? It is said "smoke." To show that this reason is uncertain, it is said "it is not like that." For the relationship, is it just memory? Or will the difference of memory arise? For this, it is not certain that just the relationship will produce memory. Why? It is called "memory also." Seeing the object seen in the past, or the effort and diligence related to the relationship, is it not generating memory? Why is it just arising? Even if there is no present thing, there is effort and diligence. Called "from some thing," it is from unrelated things used together. Is it just from occasional simultaneous use? It is called "many," that is, mostly. For example, does memory arise from the act of cutting with a knife and the act of using it together? Or, for example, like remembering a donkey from seeing a laundryman. This is said in terms of the second case, called "or." Called "the nature of certainty," it is remembering fire from smoke. The proponent of the established tenet admits, called "that is reasonable." If you want to know how it is reasonable, it is called "without relationship."

If someone thinks, since it can be determined from reasoning, why necessarily not want it to be determined from sound as well? The answer is: This means "however." Therefore, because the nature of certainty is not established, the connection between sounds and meanings cannot be established. Explaining this is what "for example" means. For those who have not examined the connection between the means of proof and what is to be proven, merely stating the reason will become doubt, not certainty. For example, saying "wherever there is smoke, there is fire," if one does not know this connection, then saying "there is fire here" will not become certain. Why? Because the sutra says "from the cause." Then "how" means others. If it is only from sound that doubt arises, then how is it determined? Explaining the aspect of certainty is: in whatever way, the sound he speaks is as it is, it is certain. It means that the meaning shown by this sound is as it is, and not otherwise. The answer is "no." "Certainty" means the certainty of meaning. "Uncertainty" does not come from sound, but from valid cognition. "From where" means "for example." Although it becomes uncertain from valid cognition, being certain as valid cognition comes from sound. Even so, it means even when generating certainty as valid cognition. The word "that way" means that it is only considered that this valid cognition is valid cognition. Oneself, that is, the nature itself, for the meaning, this word is not valid cognition. If it is like this now, then if one does not admit that the word itself is valid cognition, one will fall into a dilemma, because the sutra says "because of this meaning." For the object of valid cognition that has previously entered and holds the connection, even if the word is established as valid cognition, for it, there is no valid cognition at all, therefore, one will fall into the dilemma of not admitting it. All of these are only said after admitting it, now saying that it is not, this is explained by "valid cognition also." It is said by others. What others say is: can it be certain even without words? The answer is "it is so." Or thinking that the true word is valid cognition, the answer is "true." Or thinking that it is because there is no confusion about the meaning, or thinking that there are other differences that can be recognized, the answer is "for the meaning"
