How is it? It means "cause." Things are the effect and the pervader. Among them, the word "also," its tone is the meaning of must be grasped. It means "only the doctrine." Non-apprehension, relying on it to show other incompatible aspects, such as the reason for the vase, life, etc., to establish selflessness, for this non-apprehension, the teacher Dignāga said there is doubt, therefore it is only the doctrine, indicating that for observable things, understand this non-apprehension. How is it said that the reason has doubt? Because from the self-nature of the person I have not seen, so life etc. are not reversed. Because the reversal is prevented, that self becomes an unobservable object, therefore merely non-apprehension gives rise to the meaning of doubt. Self-nature and fruit are also the object of judgment, therefore, doubting the self-nature of non-apprehension is the meaning of "if." The need is the meaning of "then." The answer is the meaning of "its self-nature." For those who have not admitted the negation of the cover of the self-nature of things, for apprehension, taking smoke as an example, existing things are only not things other than apprehension. However, apprehension itself exists. How do you know this? It means "no." To meet doubt with difference is the meaning of "if." "These two" are no knowledge and no knowable. Are knowledge and knowable not without difference? How can these two be taken as examples to approach in order to establish the difference of those non-existent things? It means "knowledge itself." "That" is the existence of meaning. If direct perception is violated, the meaning is also non-existent, how do you know this? It means "like this." Is inference not merely holding hidden meanings? It means "seeing smoke." Is there also apprehension by inference there? Therefore, is its violation understood as non-existence? If so, there too, for the hidden meaning, inference is not pervasive in existence, that is the meaning. How is it? It means "inference." When there is no inference, although hidden

When that meaning of becoming exists, it is a mistake to infer that thing. This itself says, 'By the opposite of inference (non-existence)...'. However, although inference does not pervade existence, how does existence not pervade inference? The answer is: past and... The meaning of past and future is non-existent, even so, the negation of inference does not apply to them. Therefore, existence also does not pervade inference. Therefore, the opposite of existence, without inference, will not become non-existent. Therefore, if, like knowledge and the knowable, those non-existences are also only different, then this and so on is the established tenet. However, the absence of an object itself is non-existence. Why is that? Because of the object... If it is said that the absence of an object itself is non-existence, then this is not existence, therefore, if there is doubt as to how the non-appearance establishes the name of non-existence, then, because existence and object show as its own nature, it is said that non-appearance and non-existence are also its own nature, that is those, that is those worthy of being seen. How is it? Like this... Explaining the object as the law of action is, like this... That and so on shows the law of the agent. Pervading itself is said to be existence. If the object as the law of action is the aspect of existence, how is the object itself existence? The answer is: from that... If the object as the law of action, from that existence itself is not different, then it cannot be understood as different, therefore, the object itself is existence. Then, if the object is the law of the agent, how is existence itself the object? The answer is: therefore... The law of the agent, the object is different, because there is no confusion, therefore, existence itself is the object. This is also said after being acknowledged, that is different. Different, the object that is the same as the thing and time, it is impossible to objectify things with that object. However, how is it? The answer is: However... There, after the thing is understood, as the law of action to be objectified, outside of that object of nature...

These are the objects of focus. Because existence and the objects of focus are its nature, it is so. This explains "for it, the objects of focus" and so on. Among them, "from it" is because existence and the objects of focus are its nature. The so-called "it is not an object of focus" means that neither of the two types of objects of focus are objects of focus. This explains "there is no object of focus" and so on. If knowledge and the knowable are its nature, then how can these non-existent things be its nature? It is called "non-thing". Why? It is called "things are different". In particular, things like pots and cloths are different, so non-things are also different. The so-called "that itself" refers to the distinctiveness itself. In particular, when things are different and non-things are also different, it is stated after admitting that this is also not existent. The difference between the non-existence of pots and cloths is that because it is different from non-things, pots and cloths are one, so it is unique. What will happen then? It is called "therefore". Especially because it is one, pots and cloths become one through the way of being different, and those non-things are also unique. In this way, since the two things are not the same, it is also shown that their non-existence is also not the same. Or, even if it is allowed that the two things are different, their non-things are not different, which is called "ultimately". Therefore, this establishes that "unfocusability is not non-existence". If... and so on, the argument means that if the pot does not exist, and the ground and so on exist, and unfocusability is also the nature of the ground, then, since non-existence is established by direct perception at that time, the appearing unfocusability is meaningless. There is no inverted understanding of non-things, because it is established by direct perception. The so-called "not knowing" refers to not understanding that the characteristic of self-nature unfocusability is non-existence. It should be known that this not knowing and unfocusability is non-existence.
