If one refutes permanence with signs such as 'also being conditioned,' then impermanence itself establishes the designation. Therefore, why speak of confusion? Reflection is for examination. Others are through being conditioned. Furthermore, it is also subsequent inference. This refutes by examining the two aspects of 'not being so.' However, the first position is refuted by 'however,' and so on. The answer is 'from,' meaning even the scope of other valid cognitions beyond that of direct perception. Why? One's own nature, which is mixed with others. 'Other' means not mixed with others. 'Some' means that the nature of phenomena is not mixed with impermanence, but not the nature of the subject of phenomena. 'It is not so' means being non-retrogressive. Doubt is 'others,' meaning other valid cognitions. The answer is 'others.' If one realizes that what is held by the second valid cognition is also not so through the third valid cognition, then there is no trust in anything. 'It has been shown' means that if it is not so, then it also needs to be established by others, and so on. If it is said that even direct perception is harmed by valid cognitions arising later in time, and therefore everything becomes untrustworthy, then it is 'shadow.' For a person who has just entered a house from the shadow, for the direct perception that appears with a different appearance, it is not the later direct perception that appears clearly; the later direct perception harms the former, but the former does not harm the latter. Therefore, how can there be no trust? 'Therefore' is to summarize the context. 'From others' means from audibility itself. 'Not so' means certainly. 'It is so' means that even through audibility itself, when one understands the sound of turning back from both, one will not doubt others or become uncertain. Because that turning back is the only reason. If turning back is spoken of based solely on not seeing, then what about it? The answer is 'solely certain.' How is it certain to turn back? That is audibility itself. 'Therefore' means when it is uncertain.

That which is called "certain" is not the cause of non-understanding. Therefore, just as the common, the uncommon also abides in being merely uncertain. This makes others who doubt turning back from the inconsistent side, thinking that the reason itself is uncertain, should be understood as such. What is the use of saying just this much? Like that, let's say for now. From "how" to "if" is the debate. "Having turning back" means that the reason is to be heard. Stating this is like this. If asked how to determine the pervasion as one, the answer is "space." This is measurable. If asked how there is no turning back, the answer is "for space." This is measurable. That is space. Therefore, called "therefore" because there is no turning back. Called "that is not" etc., is saying that this reason is uncertain. The Sutra school openly admits that for the side where space does not exist, if space does not exist, even then, measurability will not turn back in any way for this side where space does not exist. Why? Because it is also for non-existence. If it is not like that, it means if there is no measurability for non-existence. If asked how there would be no name, the answer is "existence." Called "merely" means there is no turning back from others. If asked why it is not ability, the answer is "mutual." If it is not like that, it means if it is not mutually abandoned. Who would name, what would be named, what purpose would it be done for? All these would become meaningless. If so, even if the mutual non-existence of all things is measurable, how to understand the non-existent space? The answer is "by others." Others such as logicians have not understood the side where space does not exist, the uncertainty is that the Sutra school cannot establish their respective sides, the side where space does not exist, as valid cognition. Therefore, according to the Sutra school's view, even if space does not exist, it is only measurable. Like that, after establishing that the non-existence of space admitted by other schools is measurability, stating one's own view is "space also." Called "the non-existence of things with obstruction" is relative to the quality sound, the
