The audible itself merely establishes the negation of both. Therefore, it would become the cause of non-cognition. That is what is said. The answer is, "That is true," that is what is said. The explanation is, "Inference is," that is what is said. If only the imputation of permanence is severed, but impermanence is not established, then how can inference accomplish its purpose? It is "aspect," etc., that is what is said. The doubt is, "That also," meaning impermanence as well. So, how does the negation of permanence establish impermanence? That is not the case, because by severing permanence, the impermanence established by inference is established by direct perception. The nature of sound is not mixed with permanence, and so on. Since that which is established by such a sign is apprehended directly as it is, how can it be said that it sometimes ceases to exist? How about the causal reason? How can the objection that it never becomes associated with fire be refuted? How can being associated with fire be directly established after negating the absence of fire? This is, for the time being, the meaning at the end of the establishment is this: having negated the absence of fire, the presence of fire established by smoke is also direct perception. If it were not so, inference would become non-valid, because it has already been said. That is what is said. Explaining the meaning from the example is, "If," that is what is said. If the audible itself also negates both permanence and impermanence, then in establishing something other than that, at that time, something other than that would be established by direct perception. Therefore, the audible itself would only become a reason, and not a pseudo-reason with the characteristic of non-cognition. "Other," that is to say, by making something other than the audible itself, impermanence is established, and the audible itself is not a reason. If that is said, the answer is, "No," that is what is said. How can another reason establish permanence or establish impermanence when direct perception has established something outside of permanence and impermanence from sound? However, this is "other." Therefore, this means that the preventer is not.

Therefore (ན་པས་ནའོ།). The answer is: it is not The very thing to be heard is meant to revert from one of the two. If it is not so, then it will not be admitted as the cause of impermanence. Therefore, if the very thing to be heard distinguishes the two, then whose thing to be heard will not become a reason? How does one establish impermanence by another? "If it is not so" (དེ་ལྟ་མ་ཡིན་ན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་) means that even if the very thing to be heard is harmed by hardness, impermanence is established. If the very thing done is established by another, then at that time, for the sound understood as the characteristic of impermanence, there will also be doubt that permanence is established by another sign. Therefore, how can the very thing done by another become valid? Therefore, all reasons will become unreliable, because one sees harm to the one with characteristics. This statement is made after admitting that it is not refuted by direct perception. The very thing that does not refute is also not logical, this statement is "direct perception" (མངོན་སུམ་ཞེས་བྱ་བའོ།). How can it not become an establisher? The answer is: "establisher" (སྒྲུབ་པ་ནི་ཞེས་བྱ་བའོ།). Why can't one understand without preventing it as another different from that? The answer is: "like this" (འདི་ལྟར་ཞེས་བྱ་བའོ།). The object perceived by direct perception, is it unmixed with others, or is it one kind of distinction? Or, it will be mixed with others, this is the second kind of distinction. If it is mixed with others, then the object will not change. Why? Because there is no term for mixing. The explanation is: "here" (འདིར་ཞེས་བྱ་བའོ།). The object of the nature of sound, does it return from others, permanent and impermanent, or does it not return? For the side that returns, two kinds of distinctions are also said, that is, grasped or not grasped. For the side that does not give grasping, it is "if" (གལ་ཏེ་ཞེས་བྱ་པའོ།). "Other" (གཞན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་) means that the two aggregates of constant and impermanent are not prevented, but only prevented. For the side that is not grasped, it is said "if it is not so" (དེ་ལྟ་མ་ཡིན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་སྟེ།), if the return is not grasped, then, because direct perception recognizes mixing, therefore there is no name. Meaningless (དོན་མེད་དོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་) means that because there is no name for the nature of entering and returning. Or (འོན་ཏེ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་), direct perception does not return from the constant and impermanent, but considers
