That is the meaning of it. If water and milk are different, then their rotten result must also be different. In that case, where would there be error? However, if their rotten result is not different, then their cause, water and milk, must also not be different. In that case, how could there be error? Thinking in this way, what is said is: It is like that. Because from where does the power of moisture arise that leads to decay, in that state where decay occurs, both water and milk are the same, so how could there be error? Also, from "What is this" to "How is it," it is all about speaking of error. Because, according to the other's (the opponent's) view, the rotten result will avoid error. Is this water, because it appears different from milk and is also the possessor of one power, therefore acknowledged by the Buddha as having a nature of both different and the same? It is not acknowledged, that is not the meaning. Different, refers to: if one does not want different and the same, but only wants the nature of different, then it is said to be the same in moisture itself. If water and milk are different, then how can the moisture itself, from which decay arises, be the same in nature? If the nature is not the same, but the result is still only decay, if one asks this, then, in order to avoid error through the sameness of examination, what is said is: holding to the same form in moisture itself, by its nature, because there is no difference, it is said that the power is one. For things, from one or many different consciousnesses arising, because there is no other one and different. Therefore, even according to the view of one self, how could the rotten result be in error? If one wonders why it is not said to be the same in itself, that is: water and. If one asks, then how is it the same? That is: from that. Because there is no different opposite, water and milk are the same. If one asks, then how is it that there is no difference?
