Therefore, if it is not established by valid cognition that those two are, then how can it be contradictory through transmission as well? The phrase "if" and so on is the explanation. The term "distinguishing" means that the pervader of life and so on is the self, and that this contradicts the absence of self. The phrase "what is to be pervaded" and "also" refers to life and so on as well. If it is said that only the self has certainty, then "life and so on" refers to the manner of having attributes and so on. If it is said that life and so on are indeed the self-nature of the self, then it is "life and so on." Therefore, life and so on are not what prevent the absence of self, so it is established. To say that these are also not reversed from the dissimilar side is "therefore." "This" refers to life and so on. If you ask "how?" it is "there," that is, in the self. It is precisely for this reason that it is said that if one of the two aggregates is definitely established, then the reversal is established from the other. Even if life and so on are allowed to be reversed from the dissimilar side, the self will not be established on a living body from the cause of the absence of the absence of self. For what reason? Because the rational person does not consider that to be a thing without reversal. For example, just as it is thought that life and so on, although not reversed from the similar side, exist on the similar side, so too, on a living body, even if there is no absence of self, it should not be thought that there is no self. Therefore, if it is thought that the reason, life and so on, is not reversed from the similar side, then, since the reason that is not reversed from the similar side is similar to it, that cause becomes a follower of the reason, so how can it be said to have reversal? The follower is not without reversal, which means that if even if there is no reversal of the reason on the similar side, it is not admitted that life and so on are reasonable there, then, even if the living body is not without self, it will not be established as having a self, because even if there is no reversal, existence is not admitted. The explanation is "how" and so on. In the absence of the similar side, that is, in the absence of self, even if there is no absence of life and so on. If you ask how to arrange the dissimilar side, it is "like this," that is, on the similar side there is life.

Etc., even if there is no contradiction, it is not existent. Why? Because the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs) together with the self (bdag) does not exist. If there is no contradiction even though it does not exist, then why would it not become existent? Because it is said to be "for the non-existent." If you doubt that even if the non-self (bdag med) does not exist, it will not become realization of the self (bdag), it is said to be "for the living body." Why? Because the living body exists. "If there is no contradiction" means that if there is no non-self (bdag med), it will undoubtedly become the self (bdag). Why? Because it is said to be "other aggregates." For example, just as the self (bdag) is established in the living body because the contradiction of non-self is a real entity, similarly, since the absence of contradiction from the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs) is also a real entity, there will also be contradiction, etc., in the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs). However, if you do not accept that there is existence even though there is no contradiction in the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs), then even if there is a contradiction of non-self, you should not accept the self (bdag). Therefore, the answer that "it is only the same" is "it is not the same." If you ask, how is it that the desired is not established? Because it is "if." If you ask, is existence also non-existent just like non-existence? Because it is "if non-existence reverts." The reason for doubting the prevention of both is called "concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs)." "It is not so" means that "the very reversion of non-existence is existence." "It is not prevention" means why? Because the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs) itself is not reasonable to be non-existent. This itself is stated as "life, etc." Therefore, just like the living body, if there is no contradiction in the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs), it will become existence itself. If you do not want to, then, if just like the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs), there is no contradiction in the living body, will it not become existence? The answer is "how?" The doubt of dissimilarity again is from "if" to "why." This living body exists, therefore, for it, removal will become non-self (bdag med), but for the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs), it will not become removal, because for the concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs), it is the side of non-existence, thus it is connected. "Then" is the conclusion. The concordant side (mthun pa'i phyogs) is non-existent, therefore, it does not revert from non-existence. This itself is stated as "non-existence is."
