Becoming that cause. That thing cannot be established without possessing the pervasiveness of the concordant side. If pervasiveness can be established without relying on concomitance, then since it is the reverse of selflessness, one will realize the self. If it is said like that, then suppose there is no discordant side, that is, no life etc., and no self. The so-called without concomitance means that life etc. are not related to the self. Then, if that pervasiveness is established, the so-called discordant side. If asked why it is not established? The so-called I and. Even if it is not to reverse me, but even so, since I reverse, life etc. also reverse, so pervasiveness is established, if it is said like that, then it is said not to reverse it. Because it does not possess the pervasiveness of the concordant side, the reverse pervasiveness is not established. If asked why life etc. cannot be established as the pervasiveness of non-existence? The so-called other, that is, the unrelated other reverses. Because the other is not a separate companion, it is not allowed for the other to reverse. If asked why it is not allowed? The so-called if. Suspecting that there is a connection, that is the so-called self. The so-called why is the explanation. According to the ultimate proponents of the Vedas, life etc. are the nature of the self, therefore in the Pramāṇavārttika, the word "that" refers to the self, and the word "self" refers to the nature. Where is that self's nature, say that to that. If you take the self, you take life etc., even if you have not realized the self, if you have not realized the eye etc., then my nature and what arises from me will be established. The so-called if is the explanation. The so-called because it is its characteristic is because it is my characteristic. The so-called other is life etc. The so-called its nature is my nature. That is me. Gathering also etc. leads to the aspect arising from it. The conclusion is, therefore, how can it be its nature and arise from it? The so-called seeing and not seeing is to indicate the object of the subject, therefore, it is established as the cause and pervasiveness, and it follows.
