If it is said that the very fact of 'arising immediately' demonstrates both the nature and the result, isn't that already established? If so, then what is the purpose of stating 'having been done'? This is a doubt, namely 'if' etc. 'By this very' means that although the very fact of 'arising immediately' establishes the nature, the nature of 'having been done' is distinguished. If it is said, 'seeing the meaning from the three-aspects sign', hasn't the definition of inference for oneself already been explained? Having said that, if it is said again, 'existing in similar instances' etc., isn't that a repetition? This is a doubt, namely 'if' etc. The meaning of the answer 'for the purpose of understanding' is this: If this meaning is encompassed only by the definition of inference for oneself, even so, in order to explain that meaning in more detail, it is stated 'existing in similar instances' etc. 'Existing in similar instances' encompasses all aspects that are consistent with the argument. 'Two kinds' encompasses what exists in one consistent aspect. If 'existing in similar instances' etc. is not stated, then the statement 'seeing the meaning from the three-aspects sign' will only grasp the two ways of arising immediately, but not what is already done. 'Inference' refers to the inference for oneself, which is 'seeing the meaning from the three-aspects sign'. 'The argument has been stated' means that 'existing in similar instances' etc. has been stated. 'Merely differentiating' refers to existing in all similar instances, and existing in two kinds of ways etc. 'For the definition' means that there is no difference in the definition of 'seeing the meaning from the three-aspects sign', because it is universally present in consistent aspects, and exists in all two kinds of ways. 'If it is not so' means that if 'existing in similar instances' etc. is not stated, then what exists only in similar instances, because there is no example to illustrate it, will only become a non-established sign.

If it reverts from the dissimilar side, is it not characterized by reason? This is the same for both pervasion and non-pervasion in the similar side. If it is said that therefore it encompasses everything, the doubt is the word "if." If that is the case, then three aspects are shown. Here is the wheel of reason. Because one wants to state the nature of the fruit reason relying on one side of the similar side, one states an example that appears immediately after exertion and arising. If it is not so, then it is not accepting the statement of nature. Therefore, it is because an example of a very clear fruit reason is not stated. If one asks how both are the result of effort, the answer is "knowledge is also." The meaning of the debate starting with "if" is: effort only produces the nature of sound, and what is done by effort is knowledge. Therefore, how can knowledge arise from effort? The meaning of the answer "that is unreasonable" is also: because Brahmins believe that sound is permanent, it does not appear immediately after effort, but arises together with effort, therefore it should generate knowledge with its own object, and that knowledge holds the nature of sound existing in the three times. Object is also sound. Therefore, it is because sound is the cause. Therefore, it is because it is to be generated by sound. Why is it considered a different object to be grasped in that way? Because "it" refers to the nature that exists before and after. Why? Because it is wheel-shaped. Because what is grasped by memory does not agree with others, the doubt is "the nature that appears previously is also only grasped," that is, "however, it is also." If it is not so, then it was not grasped previously. The repetition is "like this." Why is it thought that it does not apply to what has not been grasped? Because it is remembered by what has been grasped itself. The holder does not recognize himself as holding the nature that is about to arise, but the subsequent memory recognizes it.
