Etc. Regarding the term "done for a long time," the statement "done" is the reason for the reality of action, while the statement "a long time" is the reason for the reality of substance. Therefore, substance makes reality temporal. If it is assumed that what is apprehended by the mind, such as long duration and quickness, is time, then how can quickness, etc., arise in the mind from time that is without beginning or end? The term "without beginning or end" expresses permanence and also closely indicates pervasiveness. Therefore, if what is to be apprehended is permanent and pervasive, how can the apprehending mind engage in quickness, etc.? "That itself" refers to time. "Other" refers to non-pervasiveness. "Not like that" refers to pervasiveness. Alternatively, even if long duration, etc., are apprehended, and it is thought that this is the very nature of permanence, etc., then what is the nature of what is apprehended? Nature is the characteristic of long duration, quickness, etc. In another way, how can it arise from permanence, etc., which are other than the nature of what is apprehended? If it is thought that the very nature of long duration, quickness, etc., is time, then long duration, etc. The objector refers to the distinctions of long duration, quickness, etc. Therefore, how can time be pervasive and one? Alternatively, it refers to welcoming doubt. This meaning is that time is the state in which long duration resides, and this category arises from distinction, that is, from difference. The differences of long duration, etc., which follow the nature of time, those become the very things themselves. Long duration, etc., are explanations. Having that means having the very cow. The answer is, if that is so, then. Because of that reason, time will not be established, because there is no generality of time. Why? Time is substance, it is said. This is said after admitting it, saying that this is also not an existence different from it, refers to from long duration, etc. To those refers to long duration, etc.

Then, is it thought that duration and so on are themselves time? Duration is mentioned. The reason for 'because it is not there' is because there is no direct perception. It is connected by saying that inference is also not understanding the object. 'From the measure of change' means stating that there is no object existing in action. 'Other than the goer' means existing in the agent. Then, if it is thought how this becomes a different term by the object, 'beginningless' is spoken. Because of the lineage influenced by beginningless habitual tendencies, those ordinary beings whose manifest attachment to the suchness of reality has diminished are referred to as such. From where does this come? It is like this. If it is said that Devadatta is not different, then other individuals will not become those possessing objects. The nature of Devadatta should not be sacrifice. Devadatta and sacrifice also have goers, therefore the object is only another substance. This expresses the opposite difference. The subsequent expression, 'following,' means 'also other,' because the nature and the person possess objects, therefore other persons also possess pervasiveness, the object is other, but not other, thus it is examined and distinguished, but in reality, difference is not even seen. 'This also' means particularly different. 'It is already taught' means there, which is the object of speaking. If following and opposition are not to be understood by direct perception, how is it said to be merely an object of discrimination? 'Beginningless' is spoken. 'Following and opposition' means following and opposing existing in the object. 'Not becoming existent' means not following. 'If' means the proponent of established tenets. Signs are divination signs and so on. The word 'etcetera' includes numbers. Because of doing so, because there is no such object. What is it like? Like 'how' and so on. The explanation of this itself is like 'this' and so on. Like that and so on, also like how, like that, like this.
