The term 'distinctive' means that it indicates something that can be accomplished without needing to be devoured by demons, not that it exists at a specific time. 'Given by the gods' indicates that it is indicated as being close by just sentient beings. Therefore, it is said that the family of Lhakyab and others indicates closeness. 'That' refers to the crow that has become an indicator of closeness. 'Its fruit' refers to those who assert established tenets. 'Difference' means that it is different from the family of offerings and so on, so it is a difference, that is, the family of Lhasbyin and so on. Whoever has the ultimate wisdom of that, that is, because it exists. 'Indicating closeness' refers to being different from the subject of the dharma, such as arising from effort. Therefore, the particular, the general dharma, are different. Because of the difference, it is the sign and the sign-possessor. The meaning of this is to examine whether it is a dharma. The very act and the very impermanence also become one side by the meaning of the commitment, so it is connected. To welcome the doubt that there is no difference in dharma because there is no difference in the scope of reversal, it is said, 'If'. 'Just that' means just the sound. In this way, the teacher Vasubandhu also explained it in the treatise on Abhidharma. 'Mutual' and so on indicate the distinction of reversal. Sound itself and the very thing to be heard, with one reversal as the ultimate, are said to be included in each other. If it becomes so, then at that time these two, if they become unreasonably different, but measured by reversal, there is a difference in dharma, so it is said, that is, other meanings, that is, related and unrelated to the consciousness of hearing, also exist in sound. If that is so, then the very thing to be heard is clearly distinguished from the very sound. 'To be heard' and so on is an explanation. 'Nothing that is not to be heard' means that the sound existing in a suitable place is not from the perspective of a deaf person, there is no very thing that is not to be heard. Because there is no assembly, it is from the ears not being hidden and so on. To other people, it is to the deaf and to distant places and so on. 'Not a sound' means

Even if relying on other individuals, sound will not become non-sound. However, it is only sound. The summary of different opposites is: called "because of returning from the non-hearable." If returning from the non-hearable, what will it become? Called "precisely the hearable," thus it becomes returning from the non-hearable, but sound itself will not change like that. Why? Because sound itself is like that. Called "by this," it refers to showing the distinction examined by the opposite, that is, whatever the teacher said is well-spoken, which is related to offering. This is explaining what the teacher Dharmakirti said in the commentary on the *Pramanavarttika*. Or, whatever the teacher said is exactly what is explained, there is nothing extra. The teacher himself debated and answered, therefore these contents are explained here, that is its meaning. Showing the way of speaking is: from "if" to "is a fault." The teacher Dharmakirti said: "Here, by logical hindrance, the thesis does not have contradictory qualities." It means that in this case, all the characteristics of sound itself are not, which itself is a commitment to prove that sound is impermanent, but because it is one aspect of the thesis, it is not established. When the debater confuses with "if" etc., even if it is one aspect of the commitment, it is also able to establish. Here, it is like responding with this answer. "Eye etc." refers to among the assembled things, only eye etc. is the meaning of the commitment. "One aspect of it" refers to one aspect of the assembled is also the meaning of the commitment. It means that common and uncommon things are what is to be proven and what is able to prove. If again saying "what" etc., the meaning of the debate is: sound is impermanent, because it is sound, if this reason is not established, then it is not reasonable, it will only become uncommon uncertain. Sound itself only exists in sound, therefore it is only uncommon, then how can it be said that it is not established?
