A mere limb refers to any limb, such as a tile. If one thinks that when a mere limb appears, the possessor of limbs also appears, then that is called a mere limb. "As it is in itself" refers to the very nature of the limb. If one says that the mere limb itself is the vase, then it is said, "This." Why? Because it is a part. If a limb is a possessor of limbs, then the vase would become a form. "Merely a form" is said. Why? Because it is a form. If one says that the recognition that exists at that time is what appears, then "at that time" refers to the time when only the form appears initially. Consciousness arises from two experiences, so it does not arise at the very time of the initial experience. If one initially sees limbs and qualities but the possessor of limbs does not appear, then, to dispel the doubt that it appears because one sees other limbs, it is said, "However." "At that time" refers to the time after seeing the initial limb. "The one part itself is other" refers to the other limb itself. There is no grasping of the possessor of limbs and shape apart from form, etc. Saying that "apart from qualities, the possessor of limbs also does not appear" is "thus." Because there is a possibility of grasping other qualities, the possessor of limbs and shapes are connected and said to be impossible to grasp. It means that grasping the possessor of limbs after grasping the form is impossible. If one says that the recognition of a limb is due to the recognition of memory together with other limbs and qualities, then it is said, "Even if destroyed." When limbs and other qualities are separated, one does not see the possessor of limbs being destroyed. Therefore, for something that has not been seen as the characteristic of an object, how can there be a memory of thinking that those limbs, etc., are possessors of limbs? This shows that it is not established that what is grasped by the consciousness of a different object is established. Saying that "other inference establishes the very refutation because it is preceded by direct perception" is "from inference." Therefore, whether it is because there is no cause or in another way, the limb

For something with parts, there is no recognition. Therefore, that which is to be apprehended, when apprehended by a consciousness of a different object, is not established. This is what is said. And incidentally, it is also shown that "something with parts is harmed by non-appearance." Similarly, it is also the case for other qualities. It is explained that it is when a vase, etc., exists. "Other parts and qualities," means that when other parts and qualities are seen in the manner of being present in front, the other qualities and parts, such as touch, etc., and the parts of the other side and the center do not appear, then how can something with parts be seen? Something with parts is pervaded by all qualities and parts, and also, when qualities and parts are slightly seen, how can it be seen? "Only that" means that the distinction of qualities and parts as if completely seen is not a vase. "Even if broken," etc., in order to explain the meaning of what is said, it is said, "However." The parts of the other side and the image are remembered in the darkness, that is simultaneous with recognition. "At that time," means that if the parts of the other side and other qualities are remembered, and there is a present grasping, then it is recognition. This states that the proof that "something with parts exists because the parts are not separate" is not established. "Mutually" indicates uncertainty. If one thinks, how is there no valid cognition of grasping without separation? "Without separation" is said in this way. At the time of recognizing the parts of this side, the parts of the other side and the center are not grasped, the cognition of remembering, and what the parts of the other side and the center are, that is the cognition of recognition that "this is that." In the world, once one part of a vase is seen, and then other parts are seen after that, then the vase itself is not abandoned, therefore it is determined that the parts are one. Even if those are not established separately, then how is the collection not established? "Remembering and" is said in this way. Even if established without separation, each is not a valid cognition, but in the case of a collection it is a valid cognition, in order to welcome this doubt, it is said "If." The answer is that the ability becoming different is not existent, it is connected in this way.
