DTG185 0001.The Explanation of the Ornament of Valid Cognition, Extremely Pure, named Jamari..g2.0f

English

It is through clinging especially to the single concept that one enters. If one answers that it is like direct perception, that is not reasonable. By what does that also become entering? It abides closely by inference. When grasped, there is no doubt that other concepts will arise especially. If one wonders how other concepts also become entering, other concepts will abide. Thus it was said. Therefore, it means that through it, one also enters. If it is like this, if one grasps by abiding closely by inference, then add, "Because it grasps by its own nature." In the 'Detailed Explanation,' "clearly" means not understanding that a suitable object abides, with its own nature as its characteristic. "In order to understand oneself, one understands it," this is the collection of meanings to be shown. There also, it is also for inference. However, it refers to the absence of different concepts. If that is the case, then is it a valid cognition? The answer is that the thing itself has no awareness. If that is the case, then direct perception will not become complete either. "Direct perception" was mentioned. Touching the thing is not the reason for becoming a valid cognition. The answer is that that is also not reasonable. Clinging exists in direct perception. This is because there is no concept. Then, "the very nature" refers to the nature without concept. Since there is no entering even for concept, how does direct perception enter through it? The answer is, "By what," that is, by what does it enter. However, if one says that one enters by generating a concept that is not entering, that is not reasonable. Why? Because that is itself. Thinking like this, that oneself is not not entering, but that one enters only through generating the concept that enters, if one doubts, that is "if concept." The answer is: When not grasping the thing, how does one become an enterer? It simply does not become. Concept is not grasping the thing.

If it is also an act of joining, then saying "inference also becomes like that" means: even if it is like that, it means, even if it is not grasping objects, but if it is an act of conceptualization, then, at this time, why not wish that inference also joins? It should be wished. If merely the joining of conceptualization is not considered the reason for validity, isn't that so? Then why say that inference should also be wished for? If it is said that it is because of the arising of conceptualization. Since conceptualization is not considered valid, then how can that which arises from direct perception and is not valid become valid? It is unreasonable for conceptualization, which is not valid itself, to become valid through the path of arising conceptualization. Therefore, if one wishes to join through the arising of conceptualization of direct perception, then one should also wish for that. If that is the case, then it is admitting that there is a joining of conceptualization. Saying "inference is" is to welcome doubt. Then, it is an answer, related to "how is conceptualization valid?" Others say, considering the position of both direct perception and conceptualization, since direct perception grasps objects, therefore the conceptualization arising from it is not valid, the answer is, direct perception does not grasp objects. Why? Saying "conceptualization" refers to, one should observe the continuum of objects that are previous and subsequent, that is what it refers to. "That" refers to direct perception. "To its continuum" is a question, it is referring to the continuum that will occur. "How" is the answer. "To another" refers to the present moment. "To another" refers to what will happen. "That is" means entering the moment, it becomes entering the continuum. "Saying" refers to "inference also".

Welcoming and dispelling doubts means that "direct perception belongs to that category," which refers to the first moment of the continuum of the category that is about to arise. For that, that is, for the first moment. If asked, how is it? The answer is: because "direct perception" is mentioned. Just as with inference, conceptual thought also does not belong to that category because it is not the object of a thing. Even so, if it becomes a valid means of knowledge, then for inference, it is not something that can be refuted, that is its meaning. If it is said that conceptual thought is a valid means of knowledge because direct perception belongs to that category, as an answer, then for inference, the answer is also the same. If asked, how is it the same? The answer is: because it is said "the object of inference." "With coolness" means to make itself manifest. "The object of inference" refers to doubt. That is direct perception. "All" refers to the answer. Stating the similarity refers to "like this." Just as direct perception does not belong to the object of inference, doesn't direct perception also not belong to the object of conceptual thought that arises after direct perception? However, it is only that it does not belong to direct perception. Therefore, conceptual thought will also not become a valid means of knowledge in the object of inference, that is its meaning. "For other objects of measurement" refers to entering into the brightness of the fire where coolness is located. Therefore, because inference causes it to enter, and direct perception does not make it a valid means of knowledge, then this is also the same for conceptual thought, therefore, direct perception also does not make conceptual thought a valid means of knowledge, thus it is said: What is the direct perception generated by conceptual thought? If it is also thought that conceptual thought clings to the object of direct perception and its own nature as the same object. Therefore, the conceptual thought of direct perception is considered a valid means of knowledge, if there is such doubt, then the answer is: for both, it is even more superior. For both, refers to conceptual thought and inference. Inference also clings to its own object and the object of direct perception as the same object, it is even more superior. Therefore, why doesn't the inference of direct perception become a valid means of knowledge? If it is said that conceptual thought is that which grasps the nature of what is to be obtained, therefore it is a valid means of knowledge, but inference is not, therefore it is not a valid means of knowledge.
