The Explanation of the Ornament of Valid Cognition, Extremely Pure, named Jamari. The Explanation of the Ornament of Valid Cognition, Extremely Pure, named Jamari. The Blessed One said: 'Just as children discriminate, External objects do not exist. By the power of habituation, the mind is disturbed, And appearances are greatly differentiated as objects.' Thus he said. In this, although the truth itself is fully revealed by the nature of all discriminations, some understand that blue and so on are external objects, possessing the nature of qualities and actions, and are to be apprehended by non-substantial, non-conceptual consciousness, and are not self and happiness and so on. Others say that blue and so on are merely aggregates of subtle particles, while happiness and so on are consciousness itself. Still others say that the consciousness of blue is also mind itself, and that the external object to be cognized by a mind possessing its aspect is something else, and is always hidden. To this, the external is not something else, but blue and so on are not entirely external, nor are they entirely internal, which is the view of the Digambaras (sky-clad ones). Consciousness itself is permanent, pervasive, and unitary, and is possessed by a collection of unreal aspects due to its connection with the power of ignorance, which is the view of the Vaisheshikas. This very thing is impermanent, non-pervasive, and manifold, existing merely as the nature of clarity, which is the view of the Nirakaras (those who speak of no aspects). Apart from various clarities, there is nothing to be apprehended as an object, or to be analyzed as the nature of permanence and impermanence, and so on, which is merely clarity. The various are also unreal, which is the distinction of the Madhyamikas. Others say that the five aggregates are also conventional, which is a brief statement, and there are countless wrong conceptions that obscure one's own nature by being condensed by superimposition and denigration. For these, there is no attainment of their own desired meaning, therefore, in order to refute superimposition and denigration, the characteristics of existence and non-existence are briefly summarized by dharma alone.

Under your control, there exists unreal imputation. In it, there are no two. Emptiness exists in it. In it also exists in it. It is called "exists." Unreal imputation is mind and mental factors, the three realms. Thus it is said. Unreal is the apprehended and the apprehender, the two. Because of the action of subsequent arising conceptualization, by this or by it completely conceptualizing, therefore it is unreal imputation. It itself is called other-powered nature in the sutras. The word called "exists" is to prevent slander against it, and to indicate the seed of what is to be done as the term for the perfect enjoyment birth. By the name of unreal imputation, it is to emphasize the knowledge that appears in various ways depending on the time of all afflictions. Under the control of others, that which is called appearance, all the collections of non-appearing heretics and what is slightly fabricated by one's own factions, is called the nature of imputation. This collection of fabrications is also almost covered by the two characteristics of the apprehended and the apprehender. In short, fabrication is of two kinds, either from a subject of dharma or only from a dharma. Among them, temporarily, when it is not clear that what exists as a substance is imputed as having parts and being different from me, then it is the nature of the apprehended and the apprehender. Also, when only to what appears, it is distinguished into two parts of the apprehended and the apprehender, then also because it is the main thing that is emphasized, it should be known as the apprehended and the apprehender. Also, when that consciousness does not clearly exist, it is called consciousness, then on the apprehended, a subject of dharma is imputed, and on the apprehender, it is imputed as a dharma. Also, when that consciousness is fabricated as being known by another consciousness, then it is also the subject of dharma of the apprehender and the dharma of the apprehended. For those who say non-one-sidedness, it is only the fabrication of the apprehended and the apprehender. Therefore, the second verse is to prevent it. The two are to emphasize imputation. Therefore, permanent and other dharmas and things that are not the nature of the apprehended and the apprehender.
