The statement is "if." The connection is, since there is no grasping of self-nature, there is no fault, if it is said like that, what is said is the nature of connection. Thinking that its self-nature is otherness, this is to welcome doubt, what is said is "aspect." Even so, connection itself is what is said, this is the answer, what is said is "various sameness." How is it? What is said is "various sameness." For the self-nature that is relied upon, if it is not grasped, it is not grasped, what is said is "for manifestation." What is said is "because of not grasping." If grasped, it will fall into grasping all manifestations. For returning from others, this fault is not the same, what is said is "returning from others." How is there no fault? What is said is "mutually." What is said is "making it different," that is, different kinds. Then, how to understand the name of the universal? What is said is "that meaning made." If, like manifestation, the meaning made is not different either? Therefore, how through it, is it called like that? In order to welcome doubt, what is said is "manifoldness not diminished." What is said is "for the dissimilar," that is, dispute. What is said is "not," that is, prevention. What is said is "by that," that is, by the wisdom of the universal itself. From where does this come? What is said is "having the same aspect." What is said is "for that," that is, for variegated and so on. Because the same self-nature is not said as that and other from things, therefore it is said that things do not exist, what is said is "therefore." What is known only by discrimination is not the object of direct perception in that and other, this is its meaning. Or, because the self-nature of the universal is not suitable as manifestation and connection, therefore it is said that it is only a non-existent thing, what is said is "that." Manifestation and connection known only by discrimination are not the object of direct perception, this is its meaning. Is the real universal a result or something else? Temporarily it is not a result, because if it is the manifoldness of the result of manifestation that is different by the difference of time, then the universal

The reason for saying "because it would become meaningless" is because of the name "if it is a result." If, because it is a result, it would perish like an appearance, then it is not admitted that way either. The reason for saying "it will perish, and it is not admitted that way" is because of the name "it will perish, and it is not admitted." If it is neither a result nor permanent, what contradiction is there? The sutra says, "Destruction is merely a thing." The nature of a thing, that is, the nature of being able to function, also pervades the result, because the result itself is impermanent. And permanence pervades contradiction, that is the meaning of it. However, if because of this fault, there is doubt that destruction is not a result, then in the manner of "everything depends on," if it is not related to the universal appearances, it will become non-universal like space. The reason for saying "kinds" is because of the name "kinds." Unrelated means with the manifested things. Non-thing means like a rabbit's horn, without self-nature. If sameness itself is not the nature of a thing, why? The sutra says, "deluded discrimination." The meaning is that because it is only cognized by discrimination. If the universal is not a cognition different from the appearance of discrimination, then there is doubt "if it is not," because of the name "however." If both appearances exist, then there are two forms. If there is another, then how can one deny the cognition of the third form? Even so, it would become a result. The reason for saying "even so" is because of the name "if it is so." "Becoming so" means becoming an appearance. "Becoming many" means because it is different from two, etc. However, many are harmed by recognition. The doubt is because it is recognition. For the universal of the form of increasing like an appearance, there is also another increasing form, and for that there is another, therefore it will become without limit. The reason for answering "for the universal also" is because of the name "for the universal also." If one does not recognize the universal for the universal, then one also does not recognize the appearance. The reason for saying "however" is because of the name "however." If for the appearance, one recognizes "cow, cow," then that is establishing the universal. Welcoming this doubt, the sutra says "recognition is." Uncertain, without certainty, is
