Thus it is said. That is with the former and the latter. If the consciousness of things like hair has a general object, then what is it that has no object? The answer is the word "then." The so-called sense consciousness is because it follows and goes against the senses. The so-called meaningless is because there is no external object. If someone doubts that if it is direct perception, how can it be meaningless? The answer is "thinking," so it is said. The so-called subsequent cognition is measured after direct perception. Since self-awareness arises dependent on the senses, if someone doubts that there is no self-awareness other than sense consciousness, the answer is "that itself." In reality, "that is" is the answer. Without it, that is, without things. Because the appearance of clarity and the distinction of the other depend only on external objects, and not on self-awareness, therefore it is said that all that is unclear. The appearance of clarity itself does not follow the senses, nor does it go against the senses, because it exists even without it, so it is said "dream." Because the appearance of clarity itself is not the consciousness of the senses, but because it is not deluded, it is the object of things, therefore it is called the senses. Without it, there is no attachment to things. Because hair is not obtained, it is dependent on things, not on one's own appearance. The so-called contradiction is because it exists completely abandoning the general self-nature and the appearance of clarity itself. The general will become the thing itself, because it has also been promised to be the nature of consciousness, if it is said so, the answer is "because it is so thought," because it is thought that the nature of consciousness is the thing itself and the appearance of clarity itself, so becoming a fault there is not a mistake. Then, if so, is that general? It is the nature of things, that is, it must be determined. The general is the appearance of conceptual thought. Because the appearance must be determined in the external object, so that is its general. The nature of consciousness, the object of self-awareness is clear, so that is not general.
