One should not say there is not. Regarding that, as long as it is not understood, there is only doubt. This will be explained in detail later. What is called "this" is what we have briefly described. There are two valid cognitions for knowing, because there are two objects to be measured. How are there two? Regarding the nature of cognition, it is able to directly function, that is, what appears clearly; while being able to function indirectly through others is not possible, such as depending on inference. This is the particular characteristic and the general characteristic, which will be explained in sequence. This shows that there are no other aggregates. Therefore, he thinks that there is no room for other valid cognitions. If appearing clearly is the particular characteristic, then the hair-like appearances seen by those with impaired vision should also become particular characteristics, to which it is explained: Hair-like appearances and so on are meaningless. They are not particular characteristics. Because those who make statements are not interested in the meaning. "Manifest" and so on are explanations. If it is not so, it means that there is no difference between manifest and inference. It will be shown, within "That is its own and other's essence." Regarding this, someone thinks that the reason "because there are two objects to be measured" is not established in relation to the basis, because what is to be established is that there are two valid cognitions, and other than that, the two objects to be measured are the reason. To this it is explained, manifest itself has no conceptualization different from the aspect of what is to be inferred, therefore, other than these two objects to be measured, there is no other that is considered to be an excellent valid cognition, this is the conclusion of "valid cognition has no other display." The explanation of this is manifest and so on. The meaning is that it is not grasping the nature of the dharma abiding on the object to be measured as the reason, but rather whatever dharma abides on the cognition that allows conceptualization to enter into the aspect of manifest or the aspect of what is to be inferred. Therefore, grasping is pervasive. Therefore, he thinks that other valid cognitions will become poison. If that is the case,

If viewed in this way, isn't this contradictory to experience? Or are some things merely manifest, and only to be inferred, without being seen? If one thinks like this, (the text) says, "Even the same object." Manifestation and so on are not different objects by nature, but the same object sometimes appears directly, and sometimes in another way. Therefore, it is through experience that it is established, and thus the ways of cognition are distinguished as different, that is the meaning. If so, wouldn't this just become a distinction of cognition? If one thinks, how to understand it as a distinction of objects? (The text) says, "Also a distinction of cognition." If it is not intended to explain the distinction of objects? Then, is the indication of the distinction of valid cognition also for the purpose of establishing the distinction of valid cognition? If so, even if the distinction of valid cognition is established, then indicating the distinction of the knowable becomes meaningless, and if one thinks that it will fall into the fault of mutual meaninglessness, (the text) says, "That itself." Because the distinction of valid cognition itself is the distinction of objects, there is no beginning of dispute. "If" etc. is said by others. "That is true" etc. is the established conclusion. The meaning is this: in all cases, other differences belong to others. Other differences are not universally present, because there is no connection. Knowledge and the knowable are not unconnected. In order to show that when one is different, the other is also different, thereby establishing this connection, (the text) says, "Knowledge and the knowable." "Certainty" means believing that things are just as they are. "Where does this come from?" If one thinks like this, (the text) says, "From other knowledge." In anything, there is no meaning of the essence appearing, but in another way, that is, in the way of a universal (sāmānya), it is secretly known. Therefore, it can be inferred that the difference of objects is distinguished from the different ways of knowledge, because the distinction of things with material nature depends on it. This states that the two valid cognitions, direct perception (pratyakṣa) and inference (anumāna), have been established. However, as many things as are understood, it is through two ways: the appearance of manifestation and the universal. This valid cognition is not how many and what kind, therefore, this is distinguished by two knowables, which has been established.
