Furthermore, to address the doubt of establishing "abiding," the answer is: if it is said to be "common." The method of refutation is: the cognition of common and uncommon is not definite, therefore it is not established, so it is not a characteristic, that is its meaning. Why is that? Because for common things and so on, there is no direct perception (pratyakṣa) or inference (anumāna). For this, it is also said that direct perception is the reason. The reason why inference is not allowed is also this, which is the meaning of explaining the later text. Showing that what can be known by oneself and others is not grasped by direct perception, and then showing that it is not grasped by inference either, the third is "by inference." It is said, "Others' hairs, etc., because the result is seen." The meaning is that whatever I see, he also sees, therefore commonality is established on the hair-fruit through inference. The answer is: one sees oneself, there is no inference. From the hair-fruit, how is it established that "he sees, he also sees"? It is impossible to understand that what I see, he also sees, because hair can also arise from similar seeing. If it is thought that how can other beautiful bodies abiding in that place be seen individually? Then, like dizziness and so on, although it is the appearance of individually determined knowledge, because similar habits are awakened, how is it common? To show that this way does not exist in the inference of the well-known fruit, it is said, "From seeing the fruit, smoke." In the example, what is seen is the nature of one's own characteristic. What is called "not a special cognition" is not the cognition of seeing one's own characteristic. If it is thought that the smoke existing in the example and the smoke existing in the subject are different, therefore the fire existing in the subject cannot be established, but it is still universal, then the doubt arises: there, it is said to be smoke. The answer is: this hair. Hair is also nominally established, how can seeing oneself be established from it? That is its meaning. Then, completely manifest

It is also said that clinging to this will accomplish commonality. Clinging to oneness is also not different from consciousness. However, that clinging to oneness is awareness, it is only consciousness. If it is thought that since even the hair, etc., seen by someone with cataracts exists, how can commonality be accomplished from that? This is your thought. In order to explain this verse, first gather the doubts, i.e., "If what?". "This" is the answer. What refutes this is "For that too", i.e., for the hair, etc., seen by someone with cataracts, too. If so, then aren't the vase, etc., seen by someone with cataracts common to everyone? If you doubt this, then it is said "Other". "Another" refers to someone with cataracts. "If what" is a question raised by others. "There is no measure for this" is the established conclusion. "The second person also destroys it", it has already been said that "There is no measure for this". "Not to mention everyone, the vase, etc., are also not established in common", this is a statement about "someone with cataracts", etc. If it deteriorates severely, then the color and shape of everything will not appear, and only the appearance of a conch shell will be seen. For example, vases, etc., are not a common appearance. This is your thought. "If the root" is introducing a question. "There is no fault of not being common", if you say so, "of the root" is the answer. "The untrue answer" is of others. "This is the three out", if you don't think so, then "this" is the refutation. Because commonality is not established in that way, therefore. "Slightly" refers to relying on what is seen by others. "If what" is of others. "Others", etc., are the answers. It refers to what is seen by direct perception, etc. "Why anyone also", because of what is seen by others, etc. The meaning here is: anything that is not seen as the nature of anything should be regarded as the nature of that thing. For example,
