of light. If a distinct entity arises in relation to this, then the nature of the object related to the lamp will not be cognized. However, if it is asserted that there is something else that holds onto the object related to the lamp, etc., that would be endless, because it would have the faults already explained. However, if there is cognition of the nature of the object, then those rays of light would be held, but that is not the case. Therefore, it should be said, "merely arising." Even so, it would follow that all knowledge has all forms. If it is thought that there is no fault if it is merely the object of the cause, then the cause itself has spoken. If there is a fault even if it is merely the object by its form, then the fault stated is "merely by its form." "Both" refers to its producer and distinguisher. "Merely experiencing" refers to self-awareness, or if it is not so, even if it is not self-awareness. "Stating the impermissibility of the state of realization and other states" refers to "if." In the view of the Samkhyas, that which has form is the intellect (buddhi). Therefore, if the nature of the intellect is realized, then what is the use of another mind being present? "Meaningless outsider" means that it is established there merely from the realization of the nature of the intellect. However, if the nature of the intellect is not realized, then it cannot distinguish the object by the nature of realization, because it is devoid of form. If it is said that the unrealized intellect itself distinguishes the object, then it is said, "unrealized." "Realization" refers to the object to be distinguished, which is not the cause. If the intellect is the knower, then how can it know the object without knowing itself? If it is said that the nature of the intellect is realized, then that is the realization of its nature, and what is the use of another mind being present? If so, how can valid cognition and its result be one? Therefore, it is said, "other actions." "That itself" refers to the form of knowledge. Now, it will be explained with "Furthermore," etc. This is close to quoting the treatise of Master Dignāga. "Without difference from that" means without difference from the knowledge of the object. This itself will be explained.
