I must commit, because not obtaining, manifestation is unreasonable, that is its meaning. How can the rainbow itself be the cause of seeing things that exist in other places and times? "This itself" means that just because a mirage is seen as water, it will not see other things in other places and times, which is the meaning of delusion. To this, others say: Seeing truly is without manifestation, this is merely a delusion arising from seeing a mirage as water. Therefore, saying that is the same for me. "That itself" refers to the manifestation of seeing a mirage as water. "Because it is meaningless" means that if things are functional, then there is no function to point to, how can it be said to be meaningful? "Everything" refers to pillars and so on. "However, pillars and so on are functional, while seeing mirages as water and so on are not, therefore there is a difference between them." If someone thinks that if one is not worldly, then how can everything not be worldly? "From seeing" it is said. Function is also merely the nature of manifestation, and if that is not worldly, then how can pillars and so on exist in the worldly realm by virtue of it? "Obtained" refers to, if someone thinks that pillars and so on have a difference in being obtained, then the answer to this is "that also." It is also the nature of being obtained. "However, pillars and so on are seen by others, while double moons and so on are not, therefore there is a difference between them." If someone thinks this way, then "others" is said. Pillars and so on are not seen by others, but because they only see their own essence, it has already been explained before. Further elaborating on the refutation of obtaining is "how." At the time of belief, the initial knowledge is the knowledge of pillars and so on. "That" refers to the pillar. "Some" refers to the knowledge of obtaining pillars and so on. "In such things" refers to things that have the nature of being obtained. "Everything is the same" refers to, just as the knowledge of pillars and so on itself is the nature of being obtained, pillars and so on and double moons will all become untrue. Knowing

That which is called "is" is the knowledge of pillars and so on. That which is called "its knowledge also" is the knowledge that holds onto the pure cause. Because of that cause, those knowledges of pillars and so on should also be regarded as "such," that is, arising from habit. If you ask if you also have this fault, the answer is, the sutra says "without beginning." In this way, when the proponent of consciousness-only abides, to put forward the previous view in order to contemplate the meaning of whatever appears there as if it were near, that is the meaning of "if." If they are different, then by what is it held? This is because there is no other knowledge apart from one's own nature. If that is, it is a connection. That which is called "by the power of its clinging" is that the Sutra School, which considers the ultimate truth to be a connection, is exactly what we desire. In conventional terms, the memory of what was previously experienced also arises, meaning that because of special clinging, if cause and effect are abiding. Here, I will not see beforehand. It is possible to understand the meaning of "this is exactly the recollection," and there is no harm to it either. To the external object, wherever there is a result of consciousness, that is called "that." Consciousness is suitable to be the result of consciousness because it was seen before. That which is called "that result" is the result of the external object, that is, "other," because it arises without an external object. It is like the illusion of smoke to a swarm of bees, and the illusion of water to a mirage. For the view of the result of an external object, even without smoke and water, the illusion of smoke and water will arise, so there will be illusion. The external object is only named, the external object is not transformed by the power of habit. That which is merely a name is also established by worldly people. Just as in dreams, various appearances appear in the same place. There, seeing each other does not exist, because only the appearances of each are recognized. Even so, the dream we see, this person is the same. There is also a case of particularly clinging to one (dream). Similarly, the state of being awake is also the same. This is agitated by the deluded mind associated with habit, it is transformation.
