Since it pervades the object to be eliminated, if there is no object to be measured, then the elimination itself does not exist, therefore, the valid cognition itself, which is the object of pervasion, is also refuted. Since it pervades to the end, it is not uncertain. The unestablished is eliminated by the very absence of the pervasion of the object to be measured, which pervades both. As it is said, since there is no knowledge itself, what will become a valid cognition? To that which is said, thinking that perhaps there is no complete elimination of knowledge, others say: If you say that I exist. The measurer himself is not a valid cognition, therefore, it is thought that it is not right to say that there is no valid cognition in refutation. The answer is, that is to say, if he thinks that it is the nature of valid cognition, then it will be like this at that time. Or, if it is another way, then there is no valid cognition in refutation, which is not uncertain. Therefore, this sentence summarizes the meaning of the present situation. By its own nature, it is uncommon, that is, what has the ability to directly produce. Other than that, it is common, that is, what has the ability to produce indirectly. What is the use of distinguishing objects through direct and indirect abilities? It only depends on the appearance changes of similarity and dissimilarity. For it, having an existing object is not, having a non-existing object is not a valid cognition, therefore it is not a loss of occasion either. If so, then is it itself the characteristic of existence and non-existence? If you ask, what is your characteristic? After welcoming the doubt, it is clearly said that having existence and so on, it is said that the ultimate function. The meaning is that when there is consideration or indirect ability for knowledge, it is not existence by that alone, and if there is another function, then I will also intervene. If there is something that cannot even function as knowledge alone, then it is non-existence. The distinction of the words of ultimate truth is stated: the other is conventional existence. Here, the word 'other' is to express the opposite. Therefore, rabbit horns and combs etc. are also not conventional terms. Non-existence is existence itself.

Furthermore, those which are nominally considered to have worldly distinctions are, in reality, knowledge, and as agents, their capacity is conventionally existent. This refers to things like individuals, those with limbs, and universals. In this way, it also incidentally combines the way the two truths exist in dependence upon inferior distinctions. Therefore, this is a transition, a verse elaborated from the topic. The statement "Those explanations of self-nature and common characteristics" refers to the statement of the nature of self-nature and common characteristics that are relevant to the current topic, which is merely a complete presentation of the topic. Considering the negation of distinctions for the supreme distinction, it expresses the acceptance of the Madhyamaka argument that cannot tolerate the distinction between conventional and ultimate as stated before, i.e., "if" and so on. This refers to being close to the word "actually." In this way, the fault of valid cognition (pramāṇa) is also indirectly established. Therefore, this harms the presentation of the definition of valid cognition in the current topic. This is shown in detail by "it is like this" and so on. Mentioning valid cognition and the object of valid cognition is because these two are relevant to the current topic. Mentioning permanence and impermanence, whether showing or not showing, is for the purpose of completely showing from the perspective of dharma that "capacity is existent." Mentioning knowledge and the knowable is for the purpose of completely understanding from the perspective of things, because it is intended to express the entirety of sentient and non-sentient beings. Valid cognition and the object of valid cognition are their distinctions, and although not all-encompassing, they are mentioned because they are relevant to the current topic. Having made such a harmful commitment, the failure to accomplish it is also expressed, i.e., "in reality" and so on. Temporarily, by approaching the distinction between permanence and impermanence, it is shown by "it is like this" and so on. The phrase "through concomitance and contraposition" refers to the complete combination of concomitance and contraposition that exist in the result, and the concomitance and contraposition that exist in the cause, which are capacities. Because there was an excess even before that.
