Having understood, therefore, habit is the cause of knowledge itself, not the cause of non-knowledge, that is its meaning. Among them, memory is merely remembering previous things, while recognition is clinging to what was previously seen and what is currently seen as the same, that is their difference. If it says "if," etc., that is the view of the Brahmins. The "also" in that refers to memory, etc. Consciousness is also appearance, therefore, thinking that it is also the nature of awareness, there is also "also" there. What the proponents of established tenets say about this is "if." "There" also refers to memory. At that time, the memory of that thing will grasp it like direct perception. Memory, etc., will also become direct perception, that is their thought. "That appearance" refers to the memory at that time. "This" refers to the fault of there being no difference between memory and direct perception. Although the hidden itself is not seen by direct perception, even so, if it is thought that memory is only appearance, then "direct perception" is mentioned. "Otherwise" means that memory does not enter into the things seen by direct perception, however, if it is the seeing itself that enters, then at that time it will grasp a nature that was not there before, even so, how will that become memory? It will also become memory, therefore it should be said that the thing itself grasped by direct perception is memory. Hidden things are also not grasped by direct perception. Therefore, thinking about how that will appear in memory? The doubt is "or." The proponents of established tenets make distinctions about the hidden itself, that is "the hidden itself." If the hidden itself is the nature of the thing, then at that time it will appear in direct perception, because direct perception is what manifests the nature of the thing. "Because the ability is certain" means that things have various abilities. Some "natures of things" also do not appear in direct perception, however, they exist elsewhere, for this meaning, it is explained by way of example, that is "example." "Other nature" refers to the nature of the vase, etc., what is the nature that does not exist for things like cloth, etc.

If it is said that it is the object of the measure of non-things. Then, "that also" is the answer. If it is said to be a thing, then "is" is the nature of the thing. From that, it is from the thing. That is the thing that is different from the non-thing. The meaning is how do the two natures of thing and non-thing change? Because non-thing is different from that. If the two dharmas of thing and non-thing are different, even so, if it is thought that a thing is one, what is contradictory? It is said, "Things are different." "Things, etc." are meanings, etc. Also, how are things, etc. only different, but non-things, etc. are not? In order to state the two reasons in order, it is "things, etc.," that is, bottles and felts, etc. From non-things, it is from one that does not have the other. If it is thought that things and non-things, etc. will also be different in the same way, then it is "things and." Non-things are also others, that is, one does not have the other, etc. If it is not so, if things and non-things, etc. also have non-things, then, for the word to be said to be different, there are also other non-things of the nature of one not having the other, and for that there are also others For this reason, it will become endless. If it is said like this, then what is to be said for this is: If non-thing is not different from thing, then how are things and non-things, etc. considered to be other, that is, different? If it is thought that because the nature of the present and non-things, the two measures that can be recognized are different, things and non-things, etc. are different. It is said, "There is no difference," there is no recognition of non-difference, because it will become all different. Explaining the latter half is "if." "By others" is ear consciousness, etc. Therefore, how those authors are considered to be different, and also understand that they are considered to be non-different, similarly, here, the things and non-things, etc. of the two measures, even if they understand that they are different, they can also understand that they are non-different, in order to state the debate, it is "this is." "Here also" refers to things and non-things, etc. From non-things phase
