If they are not mutually beneficial and helpful, then how can it be said, "This is its expression"? This is a question. Here, the things to be expressed and the expressers are not things that are mutually beneficial and helpful, that is what "therefore" means. Sometimes, sound arises from the object of consciousness, and sometimes, sound exists in consciousness, because the nature of consciousness and the manner of expression of speech are just those two. Even so, they are still directly related. So, if words only refer to what is obvious? The scriptures say, "For what is obvious." That is what is obvious. If words refer to the manner in which things appear to the consciousness that produces the eyes and other senses, then at the time of naming, the expression of sound will appear afterwards. If it is thought that this is indeed the case, the scriptures say, "That is not the case." Why is it not so? The scriptures say, "Itself." If meaning can be understood even without naming, then there would be a situation where understanding arises without naming, but that is not the case. The scriptures say, "Or, this is explained in another way." That is just the way it is, without naming. Or, if it is thought that the knowledge of clear appearance arising from non-clear appearance of conceptual thought is completely different, then that is what is called "conceptual thought." If conceptual thought is different, then what it grasps will become hidden. If it is thought that this is not the case, then the scriptures say, "The teacher is about this." The words "or" and so on are to dispel the doubts of others who have already become enlightened. The scriptures say, "Before" refers to the time of direct perception. "That" refers to its own characteristics. "Here" refers to the time of conceptual thought. Or, if it is thought that there is no difference, the scriptures say, "What is seen is." The explanation of the last line is "What has been known is." To dispel the doubts of the other party, the scriptures say, "Because." "Not true" is related. This is another person's statement, which is, "What is the measure here?"
