I think so. The so-called "thing" refers to being in the middle. If so, then how can the existence in the middle of the two extremes of cause and effect be the nature of impermanence? (The scripture says) "The nature of existence." In order to show the preceding answer with the subsequent statement of the debate, the Shastra uses half the space to explain the two words "if". If, as said, both cause and effect are extremes. At that time, it will become undifferentiated and become the extreme of cause and effect. Those will not become the difference of existence, what does this mean? Why don't those become differences? Because there is no connection. Permanence has no connection with all the extremes of cause and effect, because it will lead to the destruction of its nature. However, if things are related to existence, then is its difference all the extremes of cause and effect? This is also wrong, because those extremes are not its difference, because it does not admit the connection with things that did not exist before, because rational people do not think that things did not exist before. Therefore, according to their point of view, the statement that things did not exist before is also non-existent. If this is the case, then how can cause and effect not become things? Where does the special statement of things that did not exist before exist, where is its special feature. Those statements exist on what things, those causes and effects will not be established. The thing or rational person who obtains the name of cause and effect by virtue of the special statement of things that did not exist before will not be established. Why? Because "anything". If it is thought that there is indeed a connection, (the scripture says) "things are". Why not admit it? (The scripture says) "Admit". (The scripture) says: Non-existence before and non-existence after destruction are themselves impermanent. Therefore, if it is said that the existence of existence itself is impermanent, then one's own doctrine will collapse, and starting from the position that non-existence before and non-existence after destruction are extremes, relying on the other extreme position that cause and effect are extremes will also collapse, which is what follows. Because things

If I do not admit that there is a connection with non-existent things, then there will be this fault. However, even if there is no connection, if it is thought that things will become cause and effect, then this is called the "difference of expression." "If it does not exist" means that there is no difference that did not exist before. "There" refers to the difference of expression. If it does not exist, then what is the difference of expression? This is called "this." If it is thought that it will become a cause, then it is said "there is no effect." Therefore, if relying on the difference that did not exist before, the cause and effect themselves will not transform if it does not exist, if it is said like this, then it is because it does not rely on its difference, so it is said "also." The self-nature of the cause and effect themselves, if the other is different, then how can it transform because of its non-existence? This is called "like this." By what will it transform because of non-existence? Having the difference of non-existence before is not the cause, however, if the existence of the effect itself is combined with the connection, or the combination of the effect related to its own cause, in order to do this, it is called the cause. Sound is not the intention itself. Therefore, the first half expresses its self-nature. Temporarily, the self-nature of things is not the author, and the connection with existence is also constant, this is called expressing another way. Then, what is the effect here? If it is admitted that it arises in connection with intention, connection, and cause, then existence is temporarily not the author, because it is constant. For this very reason, it also does not produce connection. Because it does nothing, so what produces is the cause. Therefore, the latter half is saying that it does not exist. Is the effect itself that is being produced combined with its own cause, or is it the cognition of the effect that has already been produced? In order to summarize these two ways, the word "mostly" is said. Like this, after explaining the first half, explaining the latter half, this is called "with existence itself." Then, if the thing itself transforms into the effect? The thing is also, this is called not establishing a connection with existence. That "it" refers to the thing. Merely by its own nature, there is no difference that did not exist before. If the non-existent thing is the author, then this is a synonym for "that's how it is." You
