Following after objects of observation, etc., is contradictory to the object of observation. Furthermore, whatever is said is extremely ignorant, namely, holding onto its meaning. On a single consciousness, possessing defilements, without measure, is precisely on the non-existence of that which is not perceived. To state the term of non-existence as a sign is for the sake of extreme ignorance. 'Non-perception of inherent nature' is what is being explained. If even a cowherd, etc., who is separate from conduct, is not ignorant here, then what is ignorance? It is 'however'. How is it understood? It is 'the term of non-existence'. 'If it is not so' means not admitting the reason for non-perception. The cause for understanding self and happiness, etc., as different is not this treatise, because the treatise is not a valid means of cognition since it is unrelated to the meaning. 'The treatise itself' means not only happiness, etc. If it is different only from other treatises, then it would become endless. If it is suspected that observing mutual difference is the intention to establish difference, but not non-perception, then it is said 'different'. To those who do not accept non-perception, other faults are also stated, namely, 'clarity', clarity is the result of the great lord himself, etc. For the object of observation, it is the main one. He has undoubtedly made the object of observation a valid means of cognition. If on the nature of things: Things are understood to exist, The five valid cognitions are not born, Then there is no valid cognition of non-existence. Because it is said that way, why not accept that the absence of the five valid cognitions is also a valid cognition? Then it is said, 'non-perception'. This valid cognition of non-perception is only the result of actual non-existence for something that cannot be established, but it is not the realization of valid cognition, because it has already been refuted. What is that? It is that. The cause or nature to be refuted, the appearance that pervades it, is the very non-appearance, that is, non-perception itself. Why is it just non-perception itself? Again it is said, the cause, etc., are also. 'Other' means not the cause, etc. 'In another way' means it is not reasonable.

Therefore, the reason for saying "because" is that it is determined that there is no pervasive function, etc. It is produced by non-perception, etc. The reason for saying "therefore" is that it is not deceptive. This is due to the knowledge of the possessor of the sign. The reason for saying "thus" is that color, etc., is impermanent. Therefore, if impermanence, etc., is not the dharma of things, then, because this will connect impermanence itself with the general characteristic of color, someone says that impermanence itself becomes not the dharma of things, this is abandoning the original face. If things are without self-nature, because one's own nature has been established. Saying this, isn't it showing that the knowledge produced after inference and direct perception has an object of its own nature? Now, for the reason of connecting color with the general characteristic, saying this, isn't it suspecting that the appearance of connecting the general characteristic of impermanence itself with the general characteristic of color? If saying "this color" etc., it is by inference etc. Conceptual thought, due to special attachment, even if it has an object of its own nature, because it does not touch its own nature in the realm of things, it is only an object with a general characteristic. Therefore, if inference holds non-discrimination etc., then, thinking that this is the reason for connecting color with the general characteristic, this is correct. If inference also thinks that color itself is impermanent on the general characteristic, then the possessor of the dharma should be recognized by other valid cognitions, because it is not the object of direct perception, and if it is recognized by inference, there is no end to it. The direct perception with discrimination, in the present moment, for color etc., the thought of "this is impermanent" arises, this is also another valid cognition, because it is connected with its own nature, thinking like this. Said "other". Why? Because the color itself etc. held by the direct perception that can be determined to arise, is held by the conceptual thought of "this is blue" etc., therefore, this is not considered another valid cognition. Explaining the first half is "self" etc. It is not saying one's own nature, but the nature of the general characteristic, color itself, in these forms, color.
