Because it is produced by the self-existent one, it is considered that the direct perception itself is other. What is called "this" appears as direct perception itself. "Fire" refers to the kind of fire itself. The explanation for this is: merely holding the nature of the bright and burning image, and the clear appearance without conceptualization belongs to others. For the establishment of functions such as boiling and burning, the inference based on its nature is also completely other. Then, for functions such as boiling, if the kind can be understood merely by mentioning the ability, it can become a valid means of cognition. To refute what some people say about this: Thus, If the ability is not grasped, then there will be no entry, who? It refers to the meaning of accomplishing what is needed. Wanting to understand the nature of pursuing the essence of things, that is not the meaning of denial. Therefore, when measuring things of previous experience that transcend one's own nature, this conceptual knowledge, that is, the direct perception that merely manifests one's own nature, is completely different. The kind, that is, different things, does not exist, this has also been said. If it is said that a valid means of cognition is infallible knowledge, which is a common characteristic, then how is this determined? In response to this, from the previously mentioned terminology, remembering "it is the valid means of cognition itself" refers to the characteristics of entering and exiting. In the first chapter, it refers to what one will rely on to explain. Where, on what does the thought "it is black" arise? Then, it refers to the time of knowing with conceptualization. The rest is easy to understand. The rest is easy to understand. Then, how does it become established as two kinds? The answer is, because the way of knowing is different. Just like seeing a cow, at the time of conceptualization, it is clear without words, and being mixed with words and unclear, it is merely experiencing the other. What need is there to mention the valid means of cognition that has become the nature of that conceptualization? That direct perception refers to having a burning image. Whatever has this kind of nature will do this kind of thing, just like previous experience. Similarly, this is also the case, it refers to the same ability of function, it is merely the object of inference. Then, Through "..." etc., it is one's own

It is to raise a dispute on one side. Except for the Brahmin Acaṭa, others think that although the discriminating consciousness with the object of accomplishing things is different from direct perception, they think that it is not a valid cognition. That itself entering the treatise means all things that are in accordance with it. If the answer is that the body and so on are inanimate objects, it is because there is no need for knowledge itself. They think that it is because the nature of things is grasped by direct perception. Here, "refutation" means refuting. If only proximity is needed, then the body and so on will not decay either. Therefore, knowledge itself is made a distinction. For that, it is necessary to rely on non-discriminating consciousness. If it is thought that it has already been said that proximity is not necessary, then it should be said to it like this: If one relies on direct perception, then discrimination is not necessary for proximity. How can it not happen that direct perception also functions without it? As long as one can accomplish things, no one will touch the seen object, just like encountering roots and leaves while walking. "If" refers to others. Inference is not what causes it to function, connect it like that. Just like "son", whatever holds the similarity is the nature of determination, it means to infer according to its nature. Like this, although there is a discriminating consciousness that can function, it is born only from direct perception, and it does not rely on the sign of its nature. Like this, merely experiencing that it arises from direct perception, because that is its nature, this is only memory, not a valid cognition. "That is also not true" refers to the established tenet. The meaning is that if even in a habitual situation, one can feel more attached to the sign and the thing with the sign, even so, for the initial entry, if there is no inference according to its nature, then merely being more attached itself is not possible in any way. Some others, not understanding the intention, think that this is preventing direct perception from functioning in any case, so they say "even if not a believer". This is foolish.
