This is a subsequent statement regarding the doubt about "earth." The answer is "contradictory" or "harmful." However, through the negation of something becoming non-existent, just like existence, it is unreasonable to ascertain non-existence, that is its meaning. If it is thought that obvious negation does not ascertain the non-existence of something, but rather it is ascertained through the negation of abandoning its own nature, then, saying that non-existence is ascertained from negation, that itself is an admission of inference. That is what is said as "that itself." If asked how this is contradictory, the answer is "obvious itself." If asked how the absence of knowledge is not the cause of ascertaining the non-existence of something, the answer is "these speakers" said so. Saying that because it is uncertain, it is also not the cause of certainty, the answer is "therefore, the cause of non-existence comes from ignorance." If, in order to clarify this fault, others admit that manifestation is not observed in a hundred things, then, to ascertain non-existence from the non-observation of manifestation, that is "if." If the non-observation of manifestation is admitted, one's own tenet cannot be established, the answer is "then." Furthermore, if that is the case, it will also become an admission of inference, that is what is said as "if." "From that" refers to the action of existence. "Therefore" arises from within, and is connected with "of inference." If that is the case, how does all inference become admitted? The answer is "this" said so, that is, through "that itself negation" and so on. If there is doubt about how to know that others have minds, the answer is "regarding sound etc." "Its own nature is also necessarily established" means that the minds of others are necessarily established. Furthermore, are the minds of others not established from obviousness itself? Then, what is the use of admitting inference? The answer is "the minds of others." If asked how it is not established, the answer is "do the minds of others exist?" "Its form" is said so. If it is said because it is understood that way, the answer is "obvious itself." The minds of others are also not understood that way, therefore, for the conventionalists, that is only understood from inference. If only the minds of others are ascertained, but the differences of hatred etc.

How is it determined? It is called "appearance, etc." Now, in order to explain the meaning of what is said to be "the latter half," starting from welcoming the doubt. It is called "hatred, etc." If it is said, "In what way?" That is, in any way. It is called "taking, that is, speaking, etc." What is called "conforming to this" is conforming to the mind established by valid cognition. What is called "how is it possible" is a doubt. What is called "entering" is the definition of speaking, etc. It is not possible for non-valid cognition itself to enter. Why? Because it is said, "After examining." What is called "other means" is a doubt, it is other than speaking, etc. The answer is called "means." Determination is generated by the sign of non-apprehension. If asked, "How is this a valid cognition?" The answer is, "That also." What is called "others" is the necessity of the materialists. What is called "thus" is the inference to establish that others have minds. The meaning of the action of "not" etc. is this: what is promised by others is only to understand others, not oneself. How can one understand the minds of others if one does not understand oneself? Even if one does not understand the minds of others, how can one compose treatises for the sake of others? What is called "for the time being, other support" is an argument. Having abandoned inference, it is seen that there are other means to understand the minds of others. Because there are no other means, therefore, it is called "after determining the mind by inference, one enters into composing treatises, etc." The answer is called "the next life also." How, because there is no other support, can one understand his mind from the signs of speaking, etc., and similarly infer the next life from other signs? What is called "the next life also" is a necessity. There, also, refers to the next life. What is called "thus" is the answer, abandoning the next life and the present. What is called "from this" means that this is not a valid cognizer, meaning that from this there is also no contradiction with the valid cognition that holds the pervasion.
