That which arises from this, inferring from its nature, eliminates doubt. Wherever it is seen, it is inferred in that very place, therefore it is assumed that the places are not different, but it is not so for knowing the light of a jewel as a jewel. Where, because other places of use are different, it is thought that there is another valid cognition, what is said as "for the cognition of a jewel" refers to the nature of inference. "It is not so" means to negate. Why is it so? Because it is said "extremely". Doubting that there is a difference between the existence and non-existence of illusion is what is meant by "if". The cognition of a jewel is the nature of direct perception. All direct perceptions are agents that depend on certainty. Answering that leaving one's own place and becoming a place of discrimination is called "the statement about this". In reality, knowing the light of a jewel as a jewel is the same as the cognition of pillars and so on. Just as the cognition of pillars and so on depends on certainty, surpassing its own place, therefore for its place it is direct perception, similarly, for the cognition here it is a jewel, therefore it is the same in this way, it is perverse to be specially established from the assumed valid cognition, that is the meaning. Therefore, the unfamiliar situation is to show entering all places, if the total of direct perception and inference are composed to make a treatise, then it is possible, but not one alone, what is said as "that is both valid cognitions". The cognition of the light of a jewel in the shape of a jewel in the place of the hole in the door seam, for the jewel in the place of determining "this is a jewel" is the valid cognition of direct perception, not the valid cognition of inference. Afterwards, any inference that appears in the shape of a jewel is also for the jewel itself, it is a valid cognition that can dispel perversion. Just as the cognition of pillars and so on is the valid cognition of direct perception, when doubt arises after that, it is like inferring its nature. For direct perception and inference, there is another valid cognition, what is said as "there is" is inference and direct perception in order. If it is different because there is no illusion, then there is no illusion

It is said that things themselves do not change merely because of the land. For those who are self-conceited, there is no difference between mistaking a light for a jewel or mistaking it for a pillar, for things that exist or do not exist. Because there is no difference. The so-called "non-perception" is their own view. Or, the so-called "only inference" is the view of Shakya-buddhi. For example: Mistaking the light of a jewel for a jewel is an illusion, but because it is not deceptive, it is a valid cognition. If that is the case, then there would be a third valid cognition other than perception and inference. For example, this does not belong to perception for the moment, because it is an illusion and accompanied by conceptual thought. Nor is it inference, because it does not arise from a sign. Nor is it invalid cognition, because it is not deceptive about things. If one says so, the answer to this is that it is not falling into another valid cognition, because it is only included in inference. For example, the general characteristic of inference is that understanding hidden things from other things that are related to it is inference. That general characteristic will be explained immediately. Here, the light of a jewel related to a jewel is its result, and from that light of a jewel, the illusion of a jewel also arises. Therefore, since it arises from the sign of its result, it is only inference. If, from the sign, smoke, the knowledge of the thing with the sign arises, then lighting the smoke itself is not the purpose, but it is in another place. Mistaking a jewel for a jewel is attaching the attribute of the thing with the sign to the sign, the light of the jewel itself. Even so, merely because of this change, the characteristic of arising from related things is not lost. If attaching attributes in another place is feasible, then it is not enough to just say "there is a hand here," because merely obtaining a jewel in that place does not become a valid cognition. No one can deny that merely obtaining a jewel is inference, because in all cases, the illusion of the object is the only desire. If there is no memory of the illusion of a jewel following and disappearing, even if there is not, it will not therefore not become inference.
