Because it is preceded by the three, so there is a difference, how can it be determined that there is no difference? This is the meaning of the doubt. If direct perception arises, then although it does not depend on inference, the term is only dependent. If it is not like this, it is not reasonable to become a valid cognition. Saying this is not okay. Saying it like this is only through self-awareness. Even if it is a valid cognition, it refers to the fact that nothing else is established other than the two. This itself is what is called direct perception self-awareness. It should also be added that "it is not established as otherness." Therefore, it is because it depends on inference. That is direct perception. Explaining the first sentence is: direct perception refers to the direct perception that arises from the power of inference. Direct perception depends on inference for terms, saying that the inference of the kind does not depend on it, because it itself is the nature of certainty, so it is named. Explaining the independence of direct perception is: like this. If you think how can you get meaning if you don't rely on direct perception? It is said "itself", that is, from inference. That is not, it means not relying on direct perception. Why? It is said, "If it is not direct perception," that is, there is no later arising. Because of the later arising, through direct perception itself, it is possible to see the fire with the difference of the separately determined object, that is the meaning. Although inference relies on the power of the dharma of the part, it makes the object with the difference of the object enter, but the difference of the separately determined object itself does not make it destroy, but it is certain that it depends on direct perception, what is said is: through inference. Why do you think so? It is said, "through walls, etc." If even so, how does inference depend on direct perception? It is said, "outside the wall." If there is nothing, it is only that the object is uncertain, so doubting whether direct perception holds the separately determined object, the answer is: object separately. Inference will not produce understanding, because it holds the certainty of the object through direct perception.

It means "is." Inference and recognizing the light of a jewel as a jewel, these are the same as doubt and reversal, each without grasping a definite object, that is what is meant by "the light of a jewel." If it is said that this fault is only recognizing the light of a jewel as a jewel, and not inference, then it is said "generate doubt." Doubting the difference between recognizing the light of a jewel as a jewel and inference is "however also." Because the object of inference is also the nature of doubt, it is unreasonable to infer the object, that is "for both." Reversal is not like that, therefore it will infer, that is "reversal is." "Doubt is" is explanation. Because it clings to two aspects, therefore it is not indicative, so it will not infer, that is the meaning. Because doubt does not infer there, however, it is only fire, thinking that the object has a difference and inferring, therefore it is "without grasping the aspect." If that is the case, the direct perception itself is what determines the object, therefore it is valid cognition, but inference is not, because the object is not shown to be close, if it is said like this, it is not, only inference, realizing that the object has no difference, this itself is destroying the way direct perception determines the object, therefore thinking that inference with the same function as direct perception does not possess the fault of arising from the object having a difference, that is what is meant. The reversal of recognizing the light of a jewel as a jewel, when it is together with inference, also does not have the fault of different functions, that is "the light of a jewel." It is connected with "abandoning from inference." "From inference" is saying, whatever appears as the image of a jewel, that is not mistaken from the jewel existing in another place, for example, like previously experienced. The image of a jewel also appears in the hole in the door seam, from that kind of nature
