That which doubts the cause is called "thatness," which is to grasp pervasion. To this, the answer is given that this is also the same for conceptual thought, that is, the arising of conceptual thought. Why? Because it is said "cause." There it is said that the cause and all aspects are not previously existent. However, this is a doubt. At the time of inference, there is no direct perception that possesses that object. Therefore, that which generates inference is not a valid cognition, and it is thought that inference also cannot accomplish the purpose. The answer is: no, because it is only in the first moment of direct perception that it is certain. However, this is a doubt. If it is not like that, then it is a valid cognition. Then, this is an answer. If it is said that because the previous ones are able to obtain, able to generate certainty, therefore it is not a valid cognition. The answer is, "the previous ones" are said. The later ones are not valid cognitions because they are the same as what has already been established and happiness. How are the later ones not valid cognitions? Because they are decisive. To welcome this doubt, it is said, "hesitating." If it is said that even if there is the first knowledge, if one hesitates, then how can one be certain from that? The answer is, one does not hesitate, because the two are mutually contradictory. Therefore, the later ones are not valid cognitions because they do not have proximity, that is what is meant to be expressed. This is just as it is said, the first moment of knowing itself grasps the object, and with the attachment contained within, it is also certain, because if it is not certain, it should not grasp that object, what is said is very clear. Because the function of valid cognition must be ultimate and completely perfect, therefore there is no hesitation, because it is unreasonable to be like that in all cases. However, the previous ones, this is to welcome doubt, if it is said, because it is the agent of hesitation. The answer is, if it is like that, then it is not a valid cognition. Because there is no entry from that, this is from the previous direct perception. Any, whether the previous direct perception or the later direct perception, is because it is the difference of the aspect that is in front. According to your view, inference is also merely not a valid cognition.

That is the meaning. Therefore, because from the point of view of entering, the previous entering itself is uncertain, so because of doubt, entering the object is also solely from valid cognition, saying this is the meaning of "for the time being." If entering is thus acknowledged, then entering with doubt is also the same as subsequent inference. Therefore, by what is that alone a valid cognition, and subsequent inference is not? What difference is there between direct perception and subsequent inference? Like this, realization is also seen through other means, and the conclusion after extensive explanation is the meaning of "therefore." For the previous two explanations, it has been shown that conceptualization is the nature of mistaken inference and the nature of entering, while here it is considered direct perception. The so-called "other nature" refers to the other nature apart from what is to be obtained. The so-called "other," what relationship does it have with realization itself apart from what is to be obtained? If one doubts what kind of other it is, the so-called "nature of things" refers to the first moment to be apprehended by the sense consciousness, and the so-called "own nature" is to be combined with the apprehension of self-nature. Therefore, for things that are about to arise, there is no difference between direct perception and subsequent inference. If the object is the same, then it is the meaning of "then." If the object to be obtained by both is the same, then in order to accomplish the classification of valid cognition, how is the classification of the object to be measured, which is closely established, accomplished? That is the meaning. The answer is "clear." Clear direct perception, unclear realization arises through subsequent inference of that nature, and for superimposition, clear subsequent inference is also realized through later arising direct perception, thereby superimposing. What is to be distinguished and observed is unclear, and the other is clear, that is the meaning. For the clear, external superimposition is also only subsequent inference, saying that subsequent inference is like the other, that is, or in another way, it is the remainder of what is to be said about the classification of the object of valid cognition. Like this, wherever the aspect of being present in front will arise, there, the subsequent inference of that nature is valid cognition. Now
