It is to show the meaning of "only thus." Then, how are these two reasonable? Therefore, it is said "that," referring to wisdom and retention. What is the difference? It is said "previous." "Only by previous formations" means that it does not depend on the effort of learning. This shows that examining the measurable object that one has not been accustomed to in this life is wisdom. Therefore, it does not prevent the determination of a measurable object that has never existed before by the efforts of others, etc. However, that is only conceptualization, not wisdom. With the three sentences beginning with "By what kind of reasoning," the nature of retention is also explained. By using "that" to refer to hidden things, it abandons previous habits. "Merely following memory" means that I have heard or understood it in this way, and determining the sound or meaning is retention. Wisdom is said to be the form of self-destruction, so it is different. Although it is the nature of conceptualization, even so, how can previous habits be determined from this? If you doubt that it will arise even without it, it is said "habit." This is approximated by two aspects such as scattered wisdom, retention, faith, and love. This is what is said: wisdom and so on do not arise without habit, which is determined from direct perception and the invisible. Therefore, it is only without confusion about their previous habits. In another way, the difference between wisdom and retention is also explained, namely "thus." The meanings grasped separately, the memory of the same nature, that is called retention.

I (the author) believe that with (wisdom) one can gather together things that are similar in meaning. To show that wisdom does not arise without habituation, it is said "without habituation." In this way, having revealed (wisdom's) own nature, and having also explained that (wisdom) will not be confused, the conclusion is that habituation can be inferred, so it is said "therefore." Because in this way, there is no fault such as the non-establishment of self-nature, etc., it is said: Its kind of meaning, from past habituation can be inferred. It means that it is both its kind and a result, because it arises from the similar kind that is produced by habituation and can be combined. This means that it arises from the fruit of the nature that can be combined. Similarly, it can also arise from taming the mind and faith, etc. Reciting "Therefore, its kind of meaning, from past habituation can be inferred" is easy to understand. Now, in order to express a deeper meaning, wisdom and so on are established as the difference of wisdom, and in order to welcome the doubts of others, it is said "if." "If it is not so" means that if the mind does not arise from the body, then at that time it will not follow the body. The increase of desire caused by the growth of the body, and the increase of hatred caused by the decay of the body, only happen when one is not properly attending, but if one is focused on this, in moments related to habit, it will not happen. The increase of greed and so on, which is said by worldly people to be born from happiness and suffering, only happens occasionally. This meaning will be explained in detail in the commentary. Happiness and so on, if it is thought to arise from the body, then it is also thought to be the ability of the body itself, so it is said "any," that is, happiness and suffering. Such as the harmony and disharmony of the elements, etc., internal things, arise from that object, this is the remaining part. Therefore, it is thought that the body is not the ability. Happiness and so on, which are born from close objects such as sons, etc., are not the ability of the body. For "at some times" etc., a temporary explanation is given, that is, "growth" etc. The reason is that things themselves are that
