It is said that is the valid cognition. If it is not so, it means there is no indication. Because it is valid cognition in this way, therefore, the one who composed the Commentary on Valid Cognition said so. It is also impossible to know that some who abide at the peak have it and some do not. Saying that it is dominated by it means effort. The benefit of others is solely the characteristic of indication, because other benefits of others are not in accordance with valid cognition. As previously stated, it refers to "Those who have great compassion, abide for the benefit of others." Therefore, from protection comes wisdom, and from that comes action, which is also because of compassion. Knowing directly or indirectly, etc., are all said to be causes. Saying that it is direct means compassion. Or, the previous knower is the result, for the sake of knowing, and now saying that the function of the cause is for the sake of generating, that is distraction. This refers to compassion and goodness. Initially, from compassion comes the final protection, and after the initial action, it will eventually become superior wisdom. These four are the cause of valid cognition, because they are the cause of certainty. Therefore, it is because of that. It is because of the certainty of being valid cognition. Such a display of reality is valid cognition. The praise in the first verse is what the Blessed One indicated, and it is said for the purpose of establishing the reality of valid cognition. If the Blessed One has immeasurable qualities, as previously stated, even so, because this has become valid cognition and is to be shown by the noble ones, therefore, praising it is for the purpose of establishing the reality of valid cognition. If someone were to say that, did the Blessed One speak of inference? Saying it is inference means saying that it is valid cognition. From where? Because it is irreversible.

Because there is no prohibition against subsequent inference, that is its meaning. Furthermore, it is said that inference, like direct perception, is also spoken of in one aspect. That is, "the nature of slightly arising." This is its meaning. The statement is an inference for the sake of others. If stating the three aspects is not an inference for the sake of others, since in "the nature of slightly arising" and so on, that is not the case, because it only states "if it is not, it will not arise." In order to dispel this doubt, it is explained thus: "the nature of not arising if it is not." This is its meaning. "That also" means that not arising if it is not, also. For inference, stating the very nature of not arising if it is not is the most important nature. This is the meaning that all speech is stating. Because the Bhagavan said, "Two valid cognitions have been taught, therefore others are not valid cognitions." This is the meaning of "because." The very nature of valid cognition, which possesses the two characteristics of deceptive conduct and making the unknown manifest, is like that. Because of that reason, there is no other valid cognition apart from the two, direct perception and inference. If one asks, what will happen from that? The answer is, it is from the Tathagata himself. Or, that Ishvara and others are not valid cognitions. For this statement, there is also the speech of the Tathagata. Therefore, those are also not valid cognitions. It is explained thus: Because the very nature of the Bhagavan's valid cognition of self-nature, which obtains the meaning of showing the meaning, possessing the two characteristics of the state of cause and effect, is shown by the Bhagavan Sugata himself. Because of that reason, from that valid cognition that shows, other valid cognitions of Ishvara and others do not exist. Because those are the reasons for valid cognition, it is because of that very reason that all valid cognitions, including the means of what should be taken and abandoned, or what should be established and the establisher, are accomplished from the Tathagata himself, and not from Ishvara and others. Therefore, through reason and scripture, the Bhagavan himself is valid cognition, while Ishvara and others are not, and it abides in this.

I, such as I am, do not possess such wisdom. Some people may think so here. Therefore, I have spoken this with my hand. It is out of the sway of affection, not out of conceit. Through having properly and truly completed this commentary, Whatever immeasurable merit has been accumulated, May it destroy the enemy of Yama, the Lord of Death, in this world, And may I attain the unsurpassed, supremely accomplished, non-dual state.
