This is stated in reliance on the views of other schools. In that state, if there is no mind for oneself, then there is no valid cognition (pramāṇa) at all. If there were, the mind would not become a valid cognition, because valid cognition is itself a characteristic of the mind. The self with a ceased mind is not what is to be proven, because no thing is cognized by something that does not exist. In the state of being awake, one also realizes that one did not have prior knowledge. If there is no realization, what then? Or, as you yourself said, even the mind is forgotten. If it is proven from terminology that is outside of valid cognition, then the next world would also necessarily be proven. By its very nature, it is not a valid cognition of that, because the continuum of another is not allowed to appear. It is not proven even from the absence of producing the fruit of knowledge, etc., because the causes are thought to be unharmed and endowed with fruit. Similarly, in the state of death, it is not cognized by the complete cessation of one's own or another's mind. So, how is it that dying like falling asleep is not considered to be killing, etc., since it is defeated? It is not so, because worldly terminology is just as the scriptures say, and the scriptures are just like that: being defeated by illness, etc., being separated from movement, etc., is what is said to be death. Therefore, it should be understood that this is stated in reliance on the view of the world at large. Therefore, just as the transformation of the characteristic of separation from the mind, which is done by sleep, etc., reverses, so too the transformation of the characteristic of death will also reverse, and therefore it would follow that one would live again. Or, if, frightened by this fault, one admits that it disappears in some way, then the fault of the statement does not reverse, that is, in that state of sleep. The so-called "no reversal" should be regarded as knowledge, because it is thought to abide in the nature of potentiality. For that very reason, in the commentary it will be explained that even if there is no awareness, if it is in the nature of potentiality. Therefore, there will be a state of being awake for falling asleep, but not for death, that is the remainder.

It is the meaning of... Like this, relying on what others say to refute, it is called "in this regard". How to say it? "Is there a nature without awareness?" It is said like this. That which is not the nature of awareness is not considered awareness. Therefore, the nature of ability is also different from awareness, so you should not consider that which does not have the nature of awareness as awareness. Therefore, the ability of thinking is the body itself, because there is no other. Therefore, it means that there is only no thinking. If so, what is the fault? "It is also like this" it is said like this, even without awareness it is like this. If it exists during sleep. At that time, it will also exist at the time of death, so it will be resurrected. From where will it be resurrected? "Trees" it is said like this. If you think there are differences such as breathing? "Breathing" it is said like this. All that is breathing, etc., was already there before. The difference caused by the ability of thinking is, "because it is related to the ability of consciousness." When explaining this, it will be refuted. The explanation is just a proper refutation. Therefore, it is when there is no difference. That is when there is no awareness. "That" refers to awareness. Then, because that is the body itself, so because there is no other, this is the doubt. Thinking will not return there. And "if" refers to others. The answer is, that which is not produced, refers to awareness, and "and" refers to doubt. "During sleep" refers to the answer. "If in that" refers to during sleep. That which is completely transformed is, that which is without awareness is completely transformed. Like this, refuting that the body is acting together, and also showing the negation of the cause of approaching, is "all breathing etc. before" What is said, explaining that is "breathing etc." and so on. Therefore, whatever that is, just like sleep, there is also thought at the time of death, so it will be inferred to be resurrected, this is the situation. Like this, admitting that the body is the cause, and refuting that, saying that the body is not reasonable as the cause, is what is said by "other". Here, after passing away
