It is not the case that one grasps the entity of cause and effect merely by this, because the reason for this is that going forward and backward are the same. The Blessed One said that the cause that is about to arise is itself the conclusion, therefore. Also, in "about to arise," the word "also" gathers together what has just passed and what has passed long ago. The so-called "other difference" is the previous or the immediately following. The seventh and fifth indicate that it is the entity of the previous cause, and these two distinctions are established. From the previous entity to the later entity, it is also indicated by "also" and "first." The first is the distinction to be established. The so-called "merely a reason" means that, in the scriptures, it is considered to be merely the entity of cause and effect. Similarly, "the unborn also arises" means that because this arises, therefore this arises, this definition is unreasonable. The so-called "then" is the established conclusion. The so-called "destruction also arises" means that the second definition is related. If it is said to be existent or has arisen, the answer is that this which is about to arise will also be existent or has arisen. That which is about to arise and was not previously is. It merely symbolizes the common reason for the previous and later entities, it is an explanation, but it is not an explanation of the existence itself at that previous time. If it is merely an explanation of the reason, then how does it become the seventh with the question of "which entity"? The answer is "because of that existence." Because the entity of merely a reason symbolizes the entity of the fruit that is about to arise, it symbolizes that the fruit is merely joined by the reason. If that is the case, then again, how is that which is about to arise said to be the cause? The answer is that the Blessed One said, it is also with the existence of that which is about to arise. For example, if rain is about to fall, it is like ants moving. Ants moving is done because it is about to rain. Therefore, the Blessed One said, "the omen of death." With the death that is about to arise, it symbolizes the sign of the aggregates, the change of the omen of death. That which explains this is "if." With this, because of birth

Saying "this sprouts" also means because it has already sprouted. If the agent itself does not exist, then what to do? This can be understood by "then past things will not become causes either," but it is stated again to emphasize its particularity. Similarly, it should be viewed in other situations as well. What is particularly to be stated is, how does a sprout grow? If one acknowledges the existence of an agent because one has concepts of sprouts, etc., then this thing that appears is because there is an agent in the mind, so the crow did not eat it. If it is said that the seed buried deep in the ground is the cause, then how can something unobserved become a cause? If it is said that what was previously observed is the reason for the cause, then the same kind of things that were previously observed will become the cause. Even if it is the same kind of thing, but because it was not observed in that way, the seed buried deep in the ground will not become the cause. It can be understood as existing, but it cannot be understood as existing before. It indicates existence, but it is not existence before. Even if it indicates existence, it is still so. What is the meaning, one might wonder? It means "if this exists," the thing that is the reason for existence itself is the meaning. That thing that is the reason is also inseparable from the state of non-confusion. But because it also leads to the fault of being too excessive, it is said that this is not a characteristic. The statement "whatever was previously observed is the cause" that comes from the heart refers to that characteristic. What is that itself? It is the non-confusion itself. What contradiction is there? Because you are attached and have not understood, there is no fault in the thing itself, because there are no faults such as being too excessive. If it is merely without contradiction, then the so-called earlier and later things, etc., are easy to understand. The others, that is, what others think, is also considered additional, that is the earlier. Those who seek the result are those who accept the cause. If it is said that wanting the cause, the inference inferred from the later result comes from the transformation of ability, not from the result. Then, the future world that will arise is the intention of the future life.
